Great Dorset 2011 Sightings
Dan and I attended the Great Dorset Steam Show last week, and came across these : (see attached) .
The Chevy was, according to the data plate, once a C15A-VAN-2, although she bears little resemblance to this now. Chassis No 4844406371, Engine No PR 4008885, SM 6439-M, Dec 8-44. The two FWD's, one Canadian and the other American, both belong to the same owner, having been restored a few years ago. Nice to see such rare trucks out. Regards Keith |

G'day Keith,
I just said to Jill last weekend that we were at Great Dorset 2 years ago. Time flies doesn't it. I had a long chat with the owner of the FWD HAR-1, Derek Turner, whilst we were there. He had done a lot of work to bring it back from the wreck he started with. Derek has owned it since 1947 and after using it in the family firm, decided to restore it and that is the result. How is Dan? Does he show the bicycles at all? Regards Rick (and Jill)

Fwd
There was a 4X4 FWD COE truck at Colin Andersons auction in 2003. It was a massive truck but pretty complete . It was RHD from memory. There was virtually nil interest in it and it sold for around $100. Apparently the shire up there used it . I hope the scrappy didn't buy it as it must have weighed 5 tons

Hi Rick and Jill
Your right, time does fly !. Dan and I only went for the day, and had to be very quick getting around, (I'd forgotten how big this show is ). I've decided that we will stay over next year, as there is far too much to look at in one day. Yes, Dan does show his bike, and it gets far more attention than I thought. We recently went to Fly to the Past at Kidlington Airport and as he had worn his RAF uniform, he was getting lots of requests for photo's of him with his bike !. He may have the other one finished for next year. Hope all is well with you guys. David, I'm glad it's another one you can add to your database, did you record the date as well ? Regards Keith |

The pics look great, especially the Chevy timber crane, did you get any other pics of it by any chance, the rear etc ? you can pm me too if thats easier, thanks. Cheers, Andy |

Hi Andy,
This year they were very lucky with the weather. We went down on the Thursday and it was sunshine and a warm breeze, all day. Sorry, that's the only picture I took of the Chevy (apart from the data plates), I know she had some massive ground anchors fitted to the back of her, and a Perkins deisel engine under the hood. The chassis had been repaired and welded up several times around the winch area. I'll ask my lad, Dan if he took any Regards Keith P.S. They had some good beers on in the beer tent, I had a couple of pints of Summer Lightning (5%), which went down very well. Then to my surprize, went shopping with the missus on Friday, and found they sell it in our local Tesco's !, needless to say, I had to buy a few. |

Wynns Heavy Haulage
Thanks Keith,
I now have pics from the front and both sides .... just none of the elusive rear, guess the ground anchors are similar to the Matador ones. Here is pics of the Wynns which is fitted with a timber crane too http://www.flickr.com/photos/10141102@N08/4720978142/ there is a side view on flickr too but i cant find it again It has a chariot style rear body made out of steel checkerplate but not visible in this pic
