Default m38a1 underhood shovel

Hi All,

I'm looking for an underhood shovel for my '67 M38A1 CDN2.

If I'm unable to find one, I'll likely buy one of these as they seem to me to be "close".

Thanks
Rick

The proper shovels were usually split wood for the D handle portion. Seems to me they were usually bulldog brand as well. You can modify the one you show, or a Cdn tire one to fit by busting the rivets, shortening the handle, and rasping the area to refit the blade or handle (whichever end you choose to work on).

One problem I remember when I used to drive operate these trucks is that some of the commercial shovels had a different arc to them and sat too low in the bracket, pinching and cutting the heater hose.

John Bizal at midwest advertises the correct shovels to install in the M-series vehicles.

Default shovel

I know as far as my unit was concerned we just had hardware store shovels, other units had crates of WW 2 Bulldog shovels , so there are your choices as far as the CF would be concerned,

I usually find them for $15 or less. To most people they are just another shovel.

If you look on midwest military's site, he charges $55 for the correct NOS M-series shovels. John knows they are not just another shovel.
