Default transmission problem

hi, im ready to put the trans on the motor and noticed that it is leaking oil out the rear output shaft. i was looking at the book and it appears to be item no. 105759 page 14 on the parts book. the shaft does not wobble and the bearings look good. would that cause the problem and is there a modern seal no. that i couls use?

thanks
dave

Dave, the seal is availble as a modern replacement, but if the wear surface is even slightly worn, oil will seep/leak past even with a new seal. Chicago Rawhide (A division of Federal Mogul) make excellent repair sleeves called Speedi-Sleeves, in just about every size except that needed for the Ford Gearbox ( !).

If sleeves are not available, get a machine shop to turn down your flange, make up a sleeve, press on and machine back to original diameter. This is common practise and I have had it done loads of times with no problems.
