Looks like it might have a screw clamp fitting on top of it, Tim, rather than the more common wire spring clip, otherwise the profile sure fits the No. 8.

Seems to me that this is a "field mod" to replace the likely broken original spring clamp... so whilst the antenna base serves the purpose, the fitting is not as per factory production.

Have had several of this type of base brand new - unissued - over the years and none have had the screw clamp.
