Default seat

Bruce,
I want the seat and sent you a PM . I'm restoring a C8 and need the seat to get a pattern for the mount that's peculiar to the 1A bodies.

Looking at the timestamps, that has to be a record in MLU...

Default 1A1

Bruce,

Whats the deal with the 1A2 body. Where was it ? How come it got left behind ?

Us of us who have 1A1/2 bodies can now see how the seat base mount actually looks . Well done for posting that pic.

Mike

PS . bit awkward to post that seat to OZ anyway . That trigger fast Cletrac is on speed I think ( little tablets that truck drivers swallow to keep em awake and alert ) .

Default 1A2 Bodies

8 cwt bodies are so thick over here we have to push them out of the way to get to the good stuff.

Right.

This came from a 1940 F8 I once owned, and if you like, I can measure up the base and send it to you before that 'orrible Cletrac gets it. The brown vinyl is interesting and somewhat parallels the green vinyl on Mk.1 carriers. I think in 1940 if it was likely to get wet, it was likely made of vinyl.

Default 1A2 seat

Mike,
If I keep this up I might end up with a completely original setup, but that's probably wishful thinking. When it warms up I have to go out to the Alberta badlands to check out a cab 11 that's at the bottom of a 400 ft deep coulee. It seems that somebody drove it down there about 50 years ago and couldn't climb back to the top so they abandoned it. It'll be interesting to see what's there!
The 1A series bodies are really scarce in western Canada but the 2A series is fairly common. Apart from mine I know of 4 C8s and 1 F8 within a reasonable distance. Four of them have 2A bodies.
Bruce,
If you don't get those measurements, I'll have to draw up plans to make 2 more for my C8 so I can post them in due time. Any of the factory photos I've come across seem to have vinyl seats in the rear but the cab seats usually seem to be canvas.

Bruce

thanks for the picture it's the first time I have seen a vinyl cover.
I have seen them listed in the parts book, and the pictures in the early manuals don't look like canvas but I’ve never come across an example here in the UK.

What you guys call vinyl I think is what we would call Rexene or leather cloth over here ?. It's still available via the vintage car trim suppliers.

Pete

"Dearest Jon"? Not gonna go there.

Between the two of you, you have the combined PC skills of one of my cats, but something's bound to turn up eventually...

Hanno, I will pay on your behalf and Bruce can ship directly to you. Bruce, do you do PayPal? If not, PM me your mailing address. I just woke up and am too stunned to go looking for the envelope you sent me.

Dearest Geoff:

You ask whether I Pay-Pall, this after suggesting Jon and my computer skills fall below that of your cats? Given that that may be true, do you then think he, or I, would enter into the highly complex, fire-wall protected, digitally secure world of such a service and survive? Surely not.

Dearest Bruce:

MSG RECD AND ACK. Package up Hanno's handle and tell me the total. Somewhere along the line I'll figger out the rest (maybe I'll ask the cats).

Awfully nice of you, Geoff. We'll settle the bill later.

Bruce, Brian Gough offered to bring the roof hatch handle in his suitcase next time when he come over to Holland. This Saturday (Feb 17) he will be going to the OMVA sale in Acton, so if you are going there too, Brian could get it then. Would this work for you? Please let me know, otherwise we'll arrange something different.

Thanks!
Hanno

Hanno, consider the bill settled. It is my privilege. Bruce, if you're not going to the Acton show, can you courier the handle to Brian? I will pay the cost. One way or another, we'll get this done.
