Hi again Clive:
Damn, boy, you have some winners in this last series. The last photo shows a 1940 Mercury Convertible Sedan of which not more than 1000 were produced. That one should end up as a Canadian staff car is, to say the least really unusual. Thanks again for sharing. Bill

Most of these come from the Ford book and are heavily airbrushed. Please forgive duplicate vehicles but I know nothing of these and prefer to show more rather than less.

Wow!
The top one is a 1940 Model Chevrolet sedan...1019? Now, is it rhd? I am trying to work out if that's a right-hand steering wheel. If it is then that is an ultra-rare photo. The only ones I have of genuine Army cars are those in the bombed-out Southampton Plant. Even if it's lhd it is a rare photo and I would be very keen please to obtain a hi-res copy!

The top one is a 1940 Model Chevrolet sedan...1019? Now, is it rhd I was askign myself with considerable expectation? I was trying to work out if that's a right-hand steering wheel. If it is then that is an ultra-rare photo. However, I cannot imagine it is , as it is clearly a Canadian domestic shot and the car has a domestic Census Number.

IDs?
"2nd" is I think a Chevrolet sedan, 1941 MODEL
MASTER DELUXE SEDAN AG 1503 and it is definitely not a Holden-bodied car with its 'suicide' rear-hinging doors. US-built? Possibly delivered under Demand S/M 2221 which was an 'overseas' delivery....to ?? Australia?? or Mid-East thence to Far East?? The first two are indeed a 1941 Buick, and I believe another '41 Chevrolet as before. However note that the Buick is rhd! It could well be a US-sourced one from Flint. We know that Australia received 1940-42 rhd Buicks sourced from the States. A very interesting and puzzling shot! |

These are the same photos used by Bill Gregg, however, I am in the process of getting coies of ALL of the vehicles photographed and not just those used by Dr. Gregg. The pair of ambulance photos are flotsom kicking around my PC and I had nowhere else to show them off. The two photos of cars in use in Canada are from a series of photos taken in the Ottawa area of vehicles in use in the Canadian Army, circa 1942. remainder are the result of individual photos that I have come across in my ongoing research. All photos not attributed to the CWM were located at Library & Archives Canada. There are also dozens of photos of RCAF vehicle photos that I have seen but have not had a chance to copy. Unfortunately, these are not grouped like the Army photos are. This means more time in getting the negatives ordered. We all benefit from a new policy at LAC which now allows researchers to take digital photos of items no longer under copyright. This applies to all WWII official Cdn Army photos. Too little time...

I may have missed some or most of those photos and I do realize that some appeared in Bill's books as perhaps Bart's as well but not in such a nice clear format. Sharing is good, and if it is legal and does not cost you personally, I know all here are most appreciative. Due to time constraints, I am not doing a lot of PM stuff just now so let me thank you, Cliff, for the latest batch which was most valuable. Morning Gents:
It is 0400 here as I am on one of my blood pressure pill induced pee breaks and doing a bit of surfing. The woodie wagon is an International and the yank behind the Humber is a Hudson. I will come back later with more details. Edit: Looks like the Inter is a 1940 or 1941 model. The Hudson is most likely 1938 and the car next to the Humber looks to me like a Lanchester 8. Bill
