Interrogation about the spare wheel door
On my FORD CANADA F60L (late version 1945) the input of the spare wheel housing is on the driver side. On other such truck I have seen that the input of the spare wheel door was on the passenger side.
I have tried to change the sens of my spare wheel housing but these operation is impossible because the two holes on each side (to fixe the part) have a different configuration (22 centimetres between the two holes on the driver side and 15 centimètres on the passenger side). The twice supports of theses hole could not have been changed because they are fixed on the frame using rivets. I attache a pic of the driver side with out the fuel tank 'rivets can been see) and the inside of the spare wheel housing on the passenger side. |

I don't know much at all about tire carriers. I asked a question the same time as you and nobody answered it either.
Looks like Ford enter from the drivers side and Chevrolet enter from the passenger side. I found this picture here on the forum. Ken

Side of door carrier tyre
Hello
You have answered to the question. Effectively on the pics i found , the door of the SPARE WHEEL CARRIER is on the driver side for FORD F60L and on the passenger side for CHEVROLET C60L. I join two pics of CHEVROLET one take at the end of war and an other some year ago in NORMANDY Thank you for these information |
