Default November 11th Remembrance Day Wolfe Island

There is an invitation for Military Vehicles to attend a small event at the Township Offices on Wolfe Island.

It is a static with a show and tell component and there will be a large umber of people attending.

There will be a lunch and a drink provided for those who bring vehicles.

You will have to be on the Wolfe Island Ferry for the 0830hrs crossing.

I highly suggest you be at the Ferry terminal for no later than 0745hrs as space can be an issue.

There is no cost to travel on the Ferry.

You will be done around 1300hrs.

This is the first year vehicles are being invited and we are improvising with the organisers as we go along so bear with us.

I will post more details in the coming days.

So,

It looks as if there are a number of vehicle attending, a Ferret, an M35, an Iltis and maybe a Land Rover Wolf.

The Wolfe Islander III is back in service as well.

Weather is cloudy with possible showers pop 40%

Default Report and pictures

Four vehicles attended yesterday, 3 taking at least one ferry and one taking 3 ferries in the course of the day.

I took a Land Rover Wolf from work, Paul Hudson took and M35, Ryan Harriman took an Iltis and trailer and David Parker Brought his Brotish Mk1 Ferret.

I live on another Island which has two ferries.

The event was well organised and we were wll rceived and thanked publicly by Ken Keyes who was the formal MC for the event.

We arrived in plenty of time and even had a chance to have breakfast in the Wolfe Island Pub and Pizzeria.

Brigadier General David Patterson was in attendance and Cadets from RMC.

Everyone was treated to a slap up lunch in the Hall afterwards.

I am glad to have made the effort to go and will, harvest allowing, go again next year.

The weather was incredible right up until my last ferry ride home.

Thank you to those who came along.

I like your poppy treatment for each vehicle. That is something I will have to get for next year's Remembrance Season.

I have been trying to get the big Poppies from the UK but have back slid for two years now.

Last year I bought material at Michaels but because of the soybean harvested didnt go anywhere.

This year I dragged the bag out and burnt some midnight oil and made four of them the night before.

I downloaded a template from the net and traced around it onto the foam with a chinagraph pencil and cut the centres out of black foam and used Gorilla glue to bond it together.

I used a knife to piece two slots and used a black zip tie to secure them to the four vehicles so we would all look alike.

I am in the process of sourcing bulk quantities of the bigger UK ones for next year and will sell them to all and sundry.
