I'm struggling to post a photo on this forum. Ihope I have managed to show a picture of my F60S under restoration.
Fingers crossed.

Now that I have got the nack of posting photos I'll put a few on the forum. The first one is how it was found in Tenterfield 2002. By the thick red paint it was in the bush fire brigade and thn a crane truck. I think it originaly came from Wallangarra army camp on the Queensland NSW border.

The truck was then picked up by a young bloke of 16 who managed to do a basic cosmetic restoraion. I bought it in 2004 with the notion of a full restoration. The chassis was butchered and poorly welded and with the help of Wayne Kotz from Blitz & Bits in Jimboomba we bought a wreck and went about putting a new chassis under the original components. Here is the wreck we started with.

Ater sandblasting and undercoating the good chassis we stripped the truck down to components and built up the chassis with refurbished part. Almost like building anew truck.

The original truck had a Chev roof so this was swapped with Wayne Kotz who had a Chev C60L with a Ford roof.

At this point I would like to thank Max Hedges for the instrument panel and wheel nuts and studs. Also salesman Bob for the switchplate stickers. I had them copied and screen printed.

I have spent nearly every weekend and holidays helping Wayne with the restoration for the last 13 months but had to move to Central Queensland for work and have not seen it since the mudguards were fitted. I'm told that the camouflage paintwork has been completed and the signwriting is happening tomorrow. I hope to have it registered and driving around in a month or 2.

At last after nearly 2 years I am seeing the end of the restoration process. I have certainly learnt some new skills and met some great people. I hope to be able to enjoy some club runs and perhaps assist on a few Anzac Days in the years to come. I will post some more photos when we venture out onto the road for the first time.

Default "different roof"

The Chev roof hatch is different and the handle is one rail, where the Ford has 2 grab rails. There is some minor differences in the rear window canvas roll mountings and there is also some footman loops on the front of the Ford roof to tie down the blackout covers for the windscreen.

Default Aussie versions

The differences mentioned by Grant refer only to the Australian produced versions. Holden-built ones followed Canadian practice whilst Australian Fords used their own design (buit built by a sub-contractor) hatch and grab handle arrangement. The same applies to Ford cab 12s where the roof hatches were added here.

Grant it's exciting when it gets close to finishing your vehicle and it's ready to register and to actually drive it legally down the road. It's also good to see another ford on the road so all the chev owners can see some quality .
Well done

Max

Default Ford V Chev.

I've been a Holden man all my life but after playing with this great lump of V8 metal I'm starting to turn. The sound it produces is like nothing I've heard before. Just the sweetest noise.

Thanks Phil.
It looks great. Thank Wayne for me. Has the signwriter left the name off the front bumper, or has he not finished yet?

hey there Grant!

I'll pass that onto Wayne... the name is there, just take a close look at the 1st pic I posted. Bit hard to see with this resolution and seeing it is black.

Default A helpful pic

Hopefully this will be of assistance to you...

Here's a detail of the front of a new vehicle showing the correct spot for the Ford badge and the right way round for the crank handle guide.
