1945 Dodge APT
Guys
What are the specs for the Canandian Dodge APT? Looks like a WC 52, what about drive train, axles etc. Will an M37 or WC 5.83 rear axle assembly fit? If so are there any issues? The engine is a 236, 12 volts, special wheel slings on combat rims. Walde |

Bonjour from rainy Ottawa...
.......damp and feels like the West coast. A lot of the powertrain is a similar or identical ....... best source of info....free...is the catalogue online at Vintage Power Wagon in Fairfield. They will even give you technical advice on the telephone. You will find that the gear cluster will interchange but the over all dimension (width) of the axle will be different.... spring pads slightly off.... mind you with a hot wrench anything can be made to fit. Rims, brakes, all the same... inner axle shaft will not interchange....different lenght. Engines and tranny should be the same....of course the APT will only have a single speed T case...... but could esily be converted to 2 speed with a T case transplant. Shocks will be different. Not sure if the Canadian APT would have the 236 or the Canadian 251...US models used the 230 c.i. The 236 or 237 was usually an industrial block and the serial number would have IN as part of the serial... When will the proud daddy show us some pictures....? Bob

I've only seen this ad fora dodge out west on Kijiji.

Got my APT home to BC
Yes it was me, I bought the 1945 Dodge APT home a few weeks ago. Another project and a very understanding wife.
Statistics are June 09, 45 production date, has APT narrow rear body, T236 engine, 10,000 miles showing on the clock, winch. Has a light OD green under yellow paint. Issue is the wrong rear axle (Ford). I have an axle for it already. Missing and on the wanted list is a passenger seat tub, spare tire carrier, front drive shaft and because of rust it will also need an inner windshield frame assembly. Had it running, sounds sweet! Axle re/re and a redo of the brakes are first on the list. Walde |

Windscreen APT
Thanks for the tip!
A few pics: Ford axle is now gone, I just changed it this week end, confirming its the late series style narrow weapons carrier "APT" cargo box, you can see width is very close to the axle width. APT update
Spent a bit of time on the front end, straightened the front frame rail ends, right one was down about an inch. Tried heating it with the rose bud but success was limited. Finally used my back hoe by lifting the truck on the one frame rail chained together with the left frame rail and dropping it. The trick was to stop just before hits the ground, it's all in the timing! Took reference measurements frequently. It worked out quite nicely. Next job is the front axle and finish the brakes. Special thanks to John Bizal at Midwest military for getting the bumper ends to me so quickly!
