Control Unit 190 (as used in the Sexton 25pdr SP Gun installation) is intended to drive a Tannoy speaker (with transformer) direct, so that's probably the way to go - the circuit diagram should exist in one of the EMERs. (FZ256/3 has the exploded view but not the circuit diagram of the 190 box - it's possible they used the IC amplifier as a driver for the speaker rather than use the 6B8 'A' set output stage.)

Do you have those artillery speakers Robert? If not, they are somewhat common out this way....I think I saw a few sets at my favorite surplus store.

Personally, I am looking for the control unit.

Thank you again David . Your contributions are very appreciated . A spook Leitrim / Alert / Masset speaker , interesting . Chris , i thought of removing that Masonite sheet to copy it just this afternoon . We had that thought almost at the same time . It would indeed be important information to save .Rob , i don’t have them and i would appreciate any help getting those artillery speakers . I am more and more inclined to make the truck out as an artillery command post anyway . Bruce i can’t wait to put my hands on those carriers . This is starting to look like a group effort men .

Hole patterns for undetermined carriers . Underneath this Masonite sheet i found a single piece of jointed plank . I had to look twice because i did not believe my eyes . It was 1 inch thick . I saw pencil marks where it was cut to size . A single piece of plank ! It was in perfect condition so i did not have to replace it with plywood .

Hole patterns for the two sets of rubber feet on the left of the No 23 carrier . Notice the numerous other hole patterns .

Found the measurements to install the mountings carrier No 1. So ,from the back of the table near the wall , the first hole is 1 5/8 inch . The second hole is 3 3/4 inch from that one , The third one 3 3/8 from it and the forth 3 3/4 inch from that one . Repeat 34 3/4 inch to the other side . The instructions talk of 5/16 holes to accommodate 1/4 inch bolts .

General view . The radio is mounted on the Carrier No 23 . It consists of a large wooden plank with handles . It is lowered on the mountings No 1 and locked in place on the wireless table . If the radio is needed outside the box , you unlock the mountings and carry away the set .The carrier is quite complicated and made of many parts !

Larger view of the carrier and mounting on the left side . We clearly see Reg is missing the long front flat iron on the whole front of the table . Photo credit Super Dave . Q : What goes into that drawer under and to the left of the table ? Why is it locked ? Code books ?

This is a diagram of the small drawer under the wireless table made by David Good .David called it a map table i would say it’s a writing table to jot down outbound / inbound messages . Could someone post detailed pictures of this drawer in the open position please ? I am going to try to reproduce it . Also details of the white octogonal piece , it looks like a handle to pull the table out . Thanks . Photo credit : Some by David Good and some by Bruce Parker

This is the drawer to the left of the WS table . It is deeper and locks for code books maybe ? Found the slot under the edge of the table for the locking bar . Detailed pictures please someone ? On Bruce ´s picture in b & W i see Masonite on top of that table . Masonite seems logical because that’s what covers both the cypher clerk and the wireless tables. Thanks. Photo credit David Good. PS : I had a small electrical fire in the control panel this afternoon . No damage done . A wayward bolt shorted the 12 V supply to the interior lights before the fuse as i was testing them . Smoke was coming out of the conduits ....I pulled the cables from the batteries so fast i could not believe it.

My wireless box uses the insulators as shown in the pictures. There are 5 of the slightly longer ones used on the shorter top buss bar and 6 insulators used on the lower lower buss bar. They are attached using a 1.8 inch panhead slotted screw passing though the buss bar, insulator and screwing into the wood paneling. My guess they are either of hard rubber or ceramic.

Awesome Gord ! Thanks for that . That resolves a mistery . What about the copper buss bar isolators ? That one is quite heavy . I suppose the isolators are beefier ?

Default Buss Bar Insulators

The insulators on my cadaver wireless box are almost identical for the long buss bar and shorter buss bar. I believe the wiring in the wireless box has not been modified. Gord

OK, this is not a wireless tread but it’s the restoration of a wireless TRUCK. In that truck one of the options was the installation of an amplified set . Look what i found today in a heated shed not to far from home ....complete with inspection tags, all connectors and racks ?

Default Rectifier

So i found this No 19 HP set configured for a wireless 5 truck . Everything works on 110 V . The No 19 set on the bottom is fed 110 V from the Onan generator through the rectifier . I even found the fittings and gaskets for the antenna wells in the roof of the truck in the boxes .
