Default Looking for info on the Vickers Light tanks.

I am building an outwardly correct (as it can be) Vickers model 1937 command tank with 2 pdr. I am using a backwards chassis from a T16 carrier and the dimensions are a little off but pretty close.
As it was made solely for export and that particular model was exported to Latvia the only surviving examples I can find are in Latvia and Russia. I am looking around to see if anyone has books, pictures or good drawings from the Vickers 1937?
This is not the Dutchman although the internals and hull are basicaly the same, technical drawings from the Dutchman would be good too.
If anyone knows of a published book of interwar British tanks I will find it and order it. I already have the book by David Fletcher "Mechanized force, British tanks between the wars" but it has very little info on that model.

Also I'm looking for a section of barrel for mocking up my 2pdr. Anything 3ft or longer would be great.

Any help would be great.

Jonathan

I would be very interested.
Kind regards Tim

I can get some copied. would cost about $30 Australian plus postage.

I would prefer to do a batch altogether so if anyone wants one form a Que and lets know

I have a pay pal account so that would work best for me.

Hi Jonathan

I have a book entitled 'The Vickers Tanks from Landships to Challenger' which is quite interesting. It skates a bit quickly over the inter war period, but does feature one picture of (I assume) the command tank you are building.

Mine is a second edition published by Keepdate Publishing Ltd, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1995, ISBN 1 899506 10 1.

Default I bought the book.

Forgot about this thread.... I will look through the book you suggested. I have proceeded as well as I could without really good pictures. I used the Dutchman for most of my outside look. Inside is all my own creation.

Hi Leo,
I think the one you refer to at the Collings Foundation is the Mk6a which came from Jacque Littlefield's collection. I was partly involved in the restoration of it in the UK. It is one of 10 that went to Australia in the late 1930's.

The tank I am building is not the standard British one it is the export version made by Vickers. here is a pic of my progress to date. As mentioned above it is also on a separate thread.

This is looking impressive; was it easy to find a turret ring?

Default Turret ring.

I cheated a bit and "found" a turret ring off of a more modern APC wreck. The turret spins very easily. The ring is about 32 inches and so is a good size to match the rest of the tank. I am just waiting to get it all finished to get started on the disassemble, so I can paint all that raw steel.

Default To further elaborate.

I'll add a back right side shot so you could see the rest of the work I have done. You can see the tie down/ tow eyes from the T16, I left them on for now as I can't see any point in taking them off.
