John,

I don't have a Chev parts book at hand but the MB-C1 Maintenance Manual lists the following for C-15A, C-30, C-60S, C-60L and C-GT:

Springs - No. of Leaves – Front: 10
Width of Leaves – Front: 2"
Spring Seat length – Front: 6-3/8"
Center to Center of Eyes – Front: 40"
Center of Front Eye to Seat – Front: 20"

HTH,
Hanno

Default Assistance Please with a C60s Front Leaf Spring Part Number

Evening all,
Please could someone with access to the C60 Parts Manuals help me with the Original Part Number for the complete Front Leaf Spring for the C60s?

I am looking at getting my spare set of springs "re-set" or refurbished by a long established specialist spring company, and they have records going back to the 1940/50s but would be easier for them with the o/e Part Number to check their drawings.

The spare set of springs have 13 leaves as compared to those on truck have 11 (MC2 states 11 is correct for C60s...but as the wrecker has a lot more weight on front axle, wondered about fitting full 13 leaf spring sets. Thoughts?)
Many thanks
John

Default Which Pattern ?

Hi John

Have the C60L 1944 Parts book, looking at the spring listing it appears that there is a difference between First Job (generally Pattern 11-12) and After (generally Pattern 13) So which is your truck?

If it is of any help here are the spring pages

PS- If your source has any luck working from these or any other CMP parts numbers hope you will share the source. Also if they have spring dimension see if they would be willing to share that rare data with the whole CMP community.

Default Leaf Spring Refurbishment

I recently visited Jones Springs in the West Midlands. They are specialist spring company who will make or reset a very wide range of springs; and are going to check and reset my two spare front C60 springs.

While there I got talking about the wide range of vehicles they had worked on and they showed me an ancient loose leaf ledger of spring data. It included Canadian vehicles, so I took a couple of photos. I think the ledger includes the info from the official manuals, but thought they might be of interest here.
