Default The VEGEMITE Thread

Hi gals & guys

Once again you overseas people are having a shot at us Australians, in this case the perpetuating barbs at one of our National icons, namely Vegemite. Let me educate you lot about the benefits of Vegemite.

1. It is one of the world's richest known sources of vitamin B which is what you mob need as you don't get natural vitamin B from our beautiful sunshine.
2. It is a basic ingredient in our CMP survival packs as:
* Food
* Sunscreen
* Insect repellant
* Radiator leak inhibitor
* Axle grease
* Tyre black
* Oil additive for worn gearboxes, differentials and transfer cases
* General lubricant
* Parts preservative
* Provide jars for small parts
* Boot polish
* Road lubricant for wheel spinning *ompetitions
* Rubbing on burns, sterilising wounds, tinea protection
* Emergency ammunition, i.e. throwing the jar at the enemy
3. Camouflage paint for re-enactors
4. Alternative to hash in your hubble-bubble pipe
5. Wood and fabric stain
6. Alternative filling for cream cakes
7. Vegemite soup
8. Food flavouring and colouring

These are just a few uses and I'm sure my fellow countrymen will add to this list. Come on Keefy, back me up.

Healthy Bob

At the risk of being exposed as totally ignorant of all things foreign, I ask this question with in all honesty and naievity:

WHAT is 'vegemite'??:

I know it is food of some sort, and seems to be included in Aussie field rations.

......standing by to be inundated with ridicule and scorn.........

...I should have known not to ask.....

... but now I know better ...... also know that I do not want to taste the stuff.....

.... reminds me of the case of "Elbow grease" I purchased at a Government surplus sale.... absolutely of no use to the Federal government or me........

Default edible!!!

Obviously the reason for Fosters, XXXX, and Wallaby wine - helps the vegemite go down and back up - to paraphrase the immortal words of British commentator Eddy Waring - an up and chunder!!

Gee Wayne... could you be more specific as to "how" VEGEMITE works as a contraceptive? (not for me!!! Menopaused Granny's don't need contraceptives...they need help...and GERITOL!)LMAOLMY

Yeh, come on Wayne - explain - though I would have thought the breath would have been effective, unless the girl had also eaten the stuff!

Healthy Bob
Not too sure who this Keefy character is...
As for other uses for our beloved vegemite it can be used to hide grey hair, to turn normal spectacles into welding goggles, and (I can personally vouch for this one) can be used on baby's rusk sticks as a pacifier...
A light smear on the upper portion of your CMP windscreen assists in driving into the setting or rising sun, not to mention how cool it looks...
How about as part of an effective temporary camouflage pattern?
Really, there are no limits to it's usefulness.
