1943 c8
Hello everyone,
I have aquired a 1943 C8 which i am trying to get roadworthy again. I Will upload and attach a picture asap One of the things i have to do is run new fuel lines. I want to have the tanks cleaned and coated. The company That does That wants to know how many liters go into a tank. I have never filled them up so i have no idea... Can Anyone give me That number? Thanks! |

Hi,
At first, congratulations on you excellent choice of vehicle. What type of C8 do you have, a FAT i presume, i'd love to see a picture. I have a pre production 1943 MCC C8 4x4 GS which is restored 2 years back. The tanks on mine have a capacity of 50 liters per tank. Rgds. Sjoerd van de Wal

it was even used for advertising the movie Raiders of the lost ark in Brussels , used to belong to a company called VRP , later sold on to the north in Belgium.

Anyway, look for C15A parts, not C15. The C15 is the 4x2 version, yours is the 4x4 hence the "A". And the cab type is Cab 12. Show us a side shot so we can identify the rear body.

Check here for wiring diagrams:
http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6313 Don't know what wires you have to fix, as there are also some threads on wiring of the dash gauges and switches.

Thanks Alex!
Well i keep finding loose wires throughout the truck. Some have connectors, others dont. IT seems two go to the dynamo And two should go to the Horn And Some should go to the tail lights which have been cut off I found the Horn lying about. So i have to re attach That somewhere too |

A 4x2 has four wheels and drives two of them. A 4x4 has four wheels and drives all four of them.

yes David , I understand , but if you buy a truck and load it , you can see the 2 prop shafts , and then still ask if it is a 4x2 or a 4x4 , that is what puzzels me .

it puzzles me why it puzzles you since it was never my question..
and frankly i couldnt care less if its a 4x2 or 4x4 I just love the way it looks and look forward to driving it, that's why i bought it... Last edited by Markwin Serlui; 11-04-17 at 15:56. Reason: added last sentence |

I have a manual on the way, but would like to work on the cmp meanwhile.
Can someone please show me where the horn(claxon) Goes? And on top of the generator are two connectors. On which one does the positive go? Thanks ! |

Let's bump things up.....
Hi Markwin
The horn mounts under the hood.... on the passenger side..... bolted to the outside skin upside down,,,,,, should have 2 holes in the outer sheet metal just a few centimers from the engine cover..... The generator is another issue...... using the wqiring diagram from the manual try to trace back wires leaving the voltage regulator.... on the voltage regulator you will find 3 wires couplings...one is Batt ( battery) one is GEN the other is "F" for FIELD................... some original generators will have the letter "F" stamped on the casing near the bolts in question..... try to find these wires andf see whichone fits or if you can clean the wire read the cocor code. I have truck like yours but opted to use an Alternator....... which is simpler and plentiful around here....... also puts out 3 x the amperage....around 75 amps and it bolts right in. Pictures might help
