Default Prc-77

I know this thread is supposed to be for WW2 wireless but I am seeking a technical guru who knows and understands post war radios like the PRC-77.
I have two that fire up, make a lot of hissing noise and that is about it. When I depress the send on the handset I do get an interruption in noise on the other and vice versa. I believe these to be operational but who knows. Is it possible to have bad handsets, antenna etc? What should I look for when troubleshooting them?
It would be even better for me if we have a local radio expert in the area that could have a look at these for me.

You can also try taking a pencil eraser to clean the pins on the hand set conection. Make sure to clean both the hand set and radio set and that will help clear up the static problem.

The above are good precautions, pretty well common practice for operators.

IIRC, you should ensure you have an antenna mounted before you key up, otherwise you may bugger up your RF output.

Steve Haney in Godley, Texas 817-309-2220 is the undisputed PRC 25/PRC 77 guru in the WORLD! He will probably be able to diagnose your problem over the phone and has all the replacement modules necessary.

Well could also be a weak battery (test with a multi meter) also could be hand set issue. try swaping them with known working ones.
