Default They tend to multiply...

Nice work Tony, I see you're taking a leaf out of Tony Wheeler's book except with Chevs... although I see the new one is part Ford.

Looks to be relatively rust-free despite the bashing around...

Default A trip to the local engineering

I thought I would give the local engineering works a try. For $80 they straightened the smaller piece that holds the pintle hook at the back of my truck and for only $50 they tidied up the front bumper. The smaller piece had a nasty little twist in it as well as some dings.

Looks like I will need to find some time to sandblast and paint them now....

Default Unbending

Looks like they did a good job Tony!

Did they use heat in conjunction with the press?

Default Wanted

Does anyone have any information or the mechanical vehicle field specifications for any of the following:

Truck, 3-ton, Battery Charging (Aust) M 6370 – MVFS 1367
Truck, 3-ton, Battery Storage (Aust) M 6372 – MVFS 1368
Truck, 3-ton, Workshop (Aust) “T” Loading M 6137 – MVFS 1363
Truck, 3-ton, Garage (Aust) M 6136 – MVFS 1366
Truck, 3-ton, Machinery (Aust) “D” Loading M 6137 – MVFS 1360
Truck, 3-ton, Machinery (Aust) Armourers' Loading M 6137 – MVFS 1360
Truck, 3-ton, Workshop (Aust) “ZL” Loading M 6137 – MVFS 1360

My tray appears to be a Garage truck, but I need more information to verify this alas.

After 2 bushfires came unfortunately close the other day I have spent the time since doing extra work cleaning up around the sheds... It was very scary watching the fires approach and being buzzed by jet bombers (water) and even Elvis (a Erickson S-64 Air-Crane - N179AC) made an appearance.

Tony,

I don't remember if you ever posted the trucks chassis number? Maybe that will provide the key to a positive identification, as there were not that many C60L Garage trucks to look through to find it.

Post it (the chassis number) and I'll have a look.

Mike

oh BTW - Thanks Keith for the DMV... :P

Mike: My Tray came from Bill's and the chassis from Ryan....

The tray however has the ladder attachment bolt holes on the left hand side above the rear wheel, instead of at the rear, like the machinery/workshop trucks.

Default The Rebuild has finally started!

Over the last couple of days I had been cleaning up some of the chassis pieces that needed to be reattached. After grinding off the shattered pieces around them, I was able to de-rust them a little:

Default More

I have been doing lots of little stuff recently and seem to be finding it difficult to really focus on some of the bigger jobs that need to be done to get this restoration happening.

I had the head rebuilt which was a little inspiring.

But I got a bit distracted by buying another blitz... But that is a different story..

Anyway I went to Corowa and that helped focus the brain a little. Lots of people commented about this thread and I saw hundreds of finished restorations (or nearly finished) which got me very envious.. So now I need to get my own truck (trucks) going!

Tony, thanks for linking to this thread, to point out the body type in answer to my query. I thought I'd read this thread before, and indeed note that I had pointed out that I have one of the GMH Special Body Division plates, that you'll need.

I've taken it to friend who is having various aircraft placards and plates replicated. It looks fairly easy to replicate, so I'll make sure that I run a number of them off and you get one.

I'm following your resto with great interest.

Cheers,
Matt

Default Chassis painted

I got pretty tired of of sanding back an area, and having it start rusting before I had done enough to justify getting out the spray gun, so today I got in a professional.

Default Life is getting greener

Another day with the spray gun and the chassis got a lot greener.

I used a lot more paint than I expected, but that was because there was a light breeze..

Default To prod you along

G'Day Tony

Good to finally meet you and have a good yarn at Corowa.

You asked me to put a post on here to give you a bit of "Get back into it" vibe.

I hope you had a good trip home.

Any more progress pictures??
