These trailers were typically used for transport of Universal carriers. Would make a really neat display for any carrier owner. Just require a Diamond T to haul it around.

I think I need professional help: I went out to Dave's yesterday and worked a deal on this trailer. As with most projects, the cheap part is actually buying it. Even after the non-original deck is cut off, all the tires replaced, and the brake system restored, it will still need a truck with an air supply (ie: MLVW or old duece) and an airbrake license to operate. At this time I have neither, although I will need a truck in that class to tow my howitzer eventually.

Very nice photo Micheal. Does anyone else have more? The only other one I have seen is the one in Greg's book.

Hi Rob

There was one example advertised a couple years back on Milweb inthe UK. Maybe someone knows of its whereabouts, at least it coule provide details to help complete a restoration of yours.
John Bizal at Midwest has a beautiful restored Diamond T 4 tonner for sale at the moment....

Rob,

I know the photos are not of the best resolution, but hopefully there will be something here that assists. The last photo is likely the one that you said you had seen from the Gregg book.

P.S. I finally got the package for you into the mail on Friday.

Colin

Thanks Colin, those are the types of photos I will need.

Your parcel hasn't left yet. I was just making up the shipping labels for all the parcels I have to send out tonight....hopefully they are in the mail Tuesday.

Default recovery trailer

The british trailers have a spare hub as spare wheel carrier , but how has the canadian trailer fastened the spare wheel to the bracket , can`t see it on the pictures .British version has 10-50-13, and Canadian one has 10-50-16 tires.

Default Ebay UK Trailer

Hi Rob,

I saved the pictures from the Ebay UK trailer from a couple of years back. Not sure if this is the same one that you saw on Milweb.

It would appear the Canadian trailer had a hub for the spare as well. However, this one is long gone. There is a deck built above the original, so there are likely some surprises underneath. Looks like the hand winch is gone completely, however I did notice at least one of the air diaphragm/master cylinder combinations.

Brakes appear to be the typical Ford CMP hydraulic. I already have one of the four wheel GS trailers (no box on it) so there may be some interchange in there. I had a spare trailer axle a couple years ago, but I unfortunately parted it out. There are still plenty more in this neck of the woods.

Default Trailer under restoration in Norway

It's great to see others working on these trailers, pictures and information posted as I just started restoring one myself. Does anyone have detailed pictures of the ramps and support feet? And a PDF version of the technical manual/parts list they could share?

Mine is not too bad, but I'm missing ramps, support feet, lights, cranks, hub for spare wheel, spare wheel, crank for winch and the wheel for the brakes. One torsion bar seems to be broken, and the top frame needs some rust repairs and straightening. The inner edges of the bed is cut off to enable narrower vehicles so that need to be fixed as well, and of course the wooden floor is gone. All in all not a bad project, and I've already found two new tires for it.

All possible help is highly appreciated, I got very little knowledge and information about these trailers apart from what I've read here in this forum. Thanks in advance!
