Can anybody help identify this MG mounting please. The casting has been machined where necessary but the rest is rough which an armour friend suggests that it is war time manufacture. There is a long broad arrow with a C half way up the center line which I presume it is for Canadian Army acceptance but cannot find this version in any of the books I have. There is a second broad arrow with 503 under it and then the number T.3778. The fact that these numbers have been stamped into it would again suggest that it is in it's finished state. The trunnion's are 3 3/4 inches apart and the holes in them which are steel lined are 7/8 inch in diameter. The center pivot hole is 2 inches in diameter.

The mark is not a Cdn acceptance mark. There has been debate as to what the mark actually designates. It can be found on oddball stuff like the plessey indirect fire sight for the bren gun along with other oddities.

Thanks Rob, another puzzle for us to ponder on. Will go and look in my Bren Gun book.

Cheers Stephen
