Default Collectable? Not if you want to stay healthy!

Located on this site is a series of pictures of radiation affected MVs and helicopters.

Many of the trucks have had their engines and wiring removed, despite the fact that they are contaminated. Most vehicles' bonnets stand open. The relics serve as a silent reminder of the world’s worst nuclear accident.

Default Interesting site

I have read some where that despite the contamination of the equipment at Chernobyl that there has been problems with parts theft. Gives a nasty reality to the term hot parts.

Oh my... could it be possible?

I mean Lend-Lease Studebakers are one thing, but to expose CMPs to radiation... AARGGHH!

It always amazed me at how the Soviets discarded massive amounts of Vehicles and Equipment. In this case there is no alternative, but I have seen working FROG and SCUD launchers along with massive amounts of Armour of all shapes and sizes discarded in Afghanistan. Some of the storage sites boggled the mind at sheer quantities.

It's always depressing to see those yards of forlorn looking vehicles. There is some nice looking wheeled armour in the chernobyl one, but the radiation ()and idstance) is an issue!

Default Glow in the dark

If you are silly enough to want this stuff, then expect to pay penance.

You will pay with you life. It is a no go, no want issue. Same goes for DR stuff in Iraq. I have friends who bleed over these things more than 15 years on....

Only a fool would want such a vehicle. Cancer, or leukemia is something I do not want.

The photos in Keiths first post were taken not long after the equipment was stored. Today, most of the vehicles and helicopters are just skeletons or completely removed as they have been stripped for parts.

check out the helicopters as they look today.

This, I understand, is one of the fire fighting helicopters used to fight the Chernobyl reactor fire. Apparently it is still 'mildly hot'.

BTW, check out this little story

Default Gws

I've had short term memory problems since that first war after the Cold War.
