Default Life Magazine images at google

The Life Magazine just opened their archive at google. An amazing collection of professional photography, starting in the 1860's. A lot of WW2 pics too.

For example a color pic of a WW2 Sherman or a B24 in Australia

Default Nice find

Good ones, Chris - another few fun-filled hours on the computer!

Incidentally they're B-25s in that image... the caption on the LIFE page is wrong.

... Kuno just sent me this link with very nice Chev's.

Do a search with "Tunisia" or "El Guettar". Very nice colored pics of trucks'n'tanks.

@ Zemsi; tried to re-do the shots at the gates of Tripoli-Median today; light was not good and the place was too crowded with cars. Will have to try again :-(

There are some nice images there but the search term key words seem to have been chosen by a ten year old.

Has anyone found a way of getting the search to display more than 10 x pages of 20 pictures ?

Searching for very specific terms is not easy and more general searches don't bring up everything.

Rich

And don´t forget Soldiers marching along road.

And what about Traffic control man holding traffic while convoy moves by. Excellent pic showing how the convoy lights under the back of vehicles worked (even though the shot looks staged).

I agree on that Rich got to be more than 200 trucks out of 20 000.000 photos i have found others by trying to think how they would insert the search term as you say a 10 year old, i wonder if a agency were given the job of progamming this lot and if so its as usual totally no knowledge of the subjects and useing the original captions from the photos. Funny thing tonight i put trucks and a few others in the search box and it did not regonise them, strange as it had every other night. Also some of the links that they have put in when you bring up a photo do the same ? good site unfortuatly thousands of images locked in there you can only reach with luck

Les, Have you tried 'steam shovel italy' ? Some stuff there you'd like I think.

Most confusing how it all works. Being too specific finds nothing and too wide makes it default to 'nothing found'
