Default Really Odd Rare and distubing find

Well I found and bought the oddest and most grusome thing yet.
I was at an Antique shop and asked if they had anything Military.
They had someting with "VIMY" on it..tuned out to be an artificial Limb..a "pegleg"

This has a C Broad Arrow on it an a 5 digit Service number.
The Name "VIMY" is cast into the Rubber end of the Limb

I cannot find anything out about these..and I cannot get info from the Service number

You Never know what you will come across....I am hoping that this will end up somewhere it will be displayed.

Sad Part of War we sometimes forget while collecting

If anyone has info on these please let me know.

Dean

Dean, check with the CWM, I was just there about a month ago and they had one on display in the WW1 exibit I believe. Maybe similar?

little known but Canada was a leader in artificial limb and face part replacements.. gruesome fact but shot and shrapnel took out a lot of noses, cheeks, chins, jaws, ears...
Canada in what seems to be another first, also now is using a very sophisticated 3d virtual system connected to a 6-axis treadmill-platform to help rehabilitate CF leg foot amputees from Afghanistan

nasty business war, but alas, sometimes there is just no choice when it is forced upon you
