Interesting you say for 25pdr.
I have one of these - minus the lid - which is stencilled for American 75mm Fuses (I think M48), would need to find it to be sure. Definitely was not 25pdr. Cannot read the stencilling in the picture on my phone! Tim |

I am going by what is stenciled on the box. Perhaps a standard box was used for different applications.

Pd t97e9
Fuze T97E9 was for 25-pdr HE rounds, one of many fuzes available for the 25-pdr. The letters PD would, I should think, normally mean point detonating, but the T97, T98 and T100 series of fuzes were all Variable Time fuzes, better defined at Radio/Radar Proximity fuzes. According to the handbook, 'Variable Time is a code name originally used to conceal the method of functioning of radio proximity fuzes and now perpetuated as the approved service title.'
Tony: never, ever seen one of those boxes in Australia, and don't think I've come across any references to the T97E9 being used in Australia, either, although they are listed in the Australian user handbook. Mike Last edited by Mike Cecil; 16-07-16 at 19:13. |

Fuze Boxes
Both boxes were manufactured in the US as were the fuzes.
