Default DUKW'ed out for another carrier

Here's my latest purchase and future project. Bit of a challenge but looking forward to it. Now it might be a world away from a carrier but a change is as good as a holiday.

Default Not too bad in the picture

What's the hull number Colin? I had 14962 before I sold it to Rex.

Looks like a standard army DUKW to me, so there probably wont be much history evident, but feel free to ask questions. There is no point doing anything much to it at all until you have the manuals.

DUKW manuals are amongst the most comprehensive and helpful I've ever seen, and if you get a chance get the ORD-7-8-9 parts list too, you'll be needing it.

So what's the story? Is there an ARN on the DUKW?

And the carrier hull no.?

Well done. Hope it didn't involve a border raid.

Look forward to seeing more pics.

I must admit Keith, there is a different colour dust on my truck and could someone tell me where to find the hull number.

If you look at the angle steel piece just over the diff the manufacturer and serial should be stamped in there. You may need a wire brush.

I might add that it has a nice warm, dry and happy shed to live while waiting for the appointment at the skin clinic.

It's a nice looking find - is there much skin to replace?

As for the dust - I'm hoping it might be from Western Australia or New South Wales. Doesn't look like Victorian dust does it?

Sorry Keith, I meant the hull number of the dukw not the carrier. Thats one number I do know where to look for. I will get the number for you in the daylight . And the dukw is a crispy skin dukw at the moment. It will need a total reskin. Infact all 4 skins need removing

Yes, of course. If there's an ARN under the paint you can find the serial numbers with a visit to AWM 126.
