Diamond Plate for HUP floor
Hi,
I am looking for a supplier of 16 gauge mild steel diamond plate in the UK. At some time the rear floor of my HUP has been patched with flat plate. Any leads would be great! Thanks James

Are you sure it is a replacement?
Hi James
Are you sure your floor plate has been replaced? Reason I ask is that some HUPs, as I understand, had flat steel floors which were overlaid with plywood and linoleum. Which version HUP do you have? My 45 HUP has square dot pattern sheer metal in the rear area, and the more standard bar pattern diamond plate in the front area. In the US you can get a vynal sheet footing that I've thought about using over the floors as sound deading. Here is picture of my HUP rear flooring for reference. Cheers Phil

If my memory is correct, the steel floor in the rear of Rob Clarke's 1945 HUP/staff car is also plain steel.

My HUP is an early 43 with two side doors. The rear floor has been welded where it has cracked in the past and two flat strips have been put in across the width of the body by the rear door and also just behind the side doors. The style of the diamonds matches the plates in the cab, so I think it is original.

The staff cars used the same stuff as the regular HUPs but they just flipped it over and welded it in.
