Default CF Ford Bronco?

Does anyone know if the CF used ford Broncos? The reason I ask is I found a listing for a truck that is listed as an "Army Truck" but the curious thing is it has some indicators that may point to actual army use not just a hunting paint job.

The First thing I noticed is that the paint looks legit CF and is fading like the real deal.

Secondly the wheels are plain like the goverment would order.

Third, the base colour under the hood looks like DND fleet green. Not a comox colour on the 80's Broncos I saw!

Lastly the milage. 35000km sounds like a truck that stayed on one place like a base. Note it's also in Edmonton.

If it is ex CF you can't beat the price for a cool truck! Wrong neck of the woods for me tho!

I saw that Jason, the thoughts I had are the same as yours.

The only thing I can think of is that someone decided that a white fleet vehicle, which is where it may have been originally would be better off done in cam scheme of the time.

I recall the 1 Can Div Suburban done up in cam, similar circumstances but different place?

And by the way, you need it Jason

I have seen where the militia, when issued a truck in Lincoln commercial green, would camo it. Not approved of course, and it would kill any re-sale value of the vehicle.

The paint job on this looks a little too clean though for militia. It is sprayed, not brushed, and pretty much by the book. It would appear to have had callsigns on the doors, now painted over. Callsigns are generally on regular force vehicles and not militia.

Default Ford U150 Bronco

My records show that DND used two models of Ford U150 Bronco, 1985 and 1987. Here is an image of the 1985 model photographed at CFB Wainwright in 1992 - of particular interest is that the 1985 model was fitted for LPG.

I had not even noticed the LPG setup in the photos of the truck above. I think that would definitely define the vehicle as a non-field vehicle. We had no provisions for refuelling of propane vehicles in the field short of using a 20 pound BBQ tank with a hose to trickle a little fuel into the tank. And forget about starting it in temps below -10°C.

Do your records show what unit held it Ed? Perhaps it was for something like the Battle School CO to go visit the students out in the field.

Default Ford U150 Bronco

My records show that the vehicle in the image was assigned to CFB Wainwright throughout its military use.

We should all have that printed on T-shirts along with the MLU logo.
