Exclamation Continuance of MLU site

I have been talking to a few people and we are curious as to the fate of the MLU site. Since the passing of Geoff we have not heard anything. I was talking to Bob Carriere and he is also concerned. We know the the domaine name is due to be paid for the next year on March 23th 2011. If the fees are not paid by the prescribed time, we could lose the domaine name/site and if so, we stand a chance of losing the entire database information.
My son Alain and I are volunteering to become the webmasters for the site until a permanent solution can be found. We must have access to the site and the information, we are ready to pay the yearly subsription, but we need access to the site. Everything would remain as is.
My son has a very good knowledge of websites and has created and managed many sites including our 2 business sites. He is also a moderator on 2 or 3 websites that interest him.
I am not suggesting taking over the site, but we are offering to manage the site till a permanent solution can be established. We don't want to step on anyones toes, we just want to make sure the site continues to operate.
If anyone has some news as to the future of the site, please post some news.
I'll be blunt let's get off the potty/ass and get something done.
This site has many followers, all over the world, let's not lose it.

Gilles & other MLU'ers,

Thanks for bringing up this subject. Behind the scenes, Shawn (Geoff's son), Keith Webb, myself and some others are working on ensuring the future of this forum. At this moment I cannot go into the technicalities, but I ensure you all is in hand for now. Apart from continuation of this site, we will also implement some improvements in availability and reliability of the forum. I will get back to you as soon as we can tell you what, if & when things change that affect you as MLU member. Since late last year, new members have not been vetted and approved pending the forthcoming changes and to minimise workload. We are sorry to keep you waiting, but we have no other choice at this point in time.

Some changes will be imminent and I will be calling upon the most frequent MLU users for their help in either money or time.

All for now - will keep you posted!

Best regards,
Hanno Spoelstra - on behalf of the MLU team

Hanno,
I am willing to assist monetarily as necessary. Also, my RamTank.ca is hosted on the same server as MLU as Sunray set this up for me. I would like to be kept in the loop on any MLU changes that may affect that status. At the same time, I have no objection to changing ISP in order to provide you with a bandwidth.

Could I be so bold as to suggest that finances are not a new issue for forums such as this one.

I am a contributing (financially) member of www.hmvf.co.uk in the uk as they have a way of making donations right at the top of the forum and have a monthly counter to show how much they need to raise and how much has come in to support that.

It works well

Hanno..
The good book says...."Ask..and you shall recieve....".
I quote that directly from the CMP.Ford Maintenance manual...
And I do believe it is in the FUC 03 parts manual also..
After Geoff and Sean I was the first one to post on MLU forum...I will not be denied for such a paltry entity as the filthy lucre..
So lead on..

On the weekend at the OMVA show In Acton Ontario I was flying the MLU banner and had a few decals at my swap meet table.

I was queried by a couple individuals regarding Maple Leaf Up's forum and to say the least, they were not impressed.
As I understood, these guys had seen the website and were interested in joining but felt ignored as no one had replied back.
I explained the situation best as I could regarding our moderators passing and suggested patience pertaining to their acceptance on the Forum so I think I was able to smooth out the waters somewhat. I know Hanno and crew are doing their best!

For a Brit, you do come up with some excellent suggestions, I think this is an extremely valid suggestion. Well Done Robin.
