Arrow Any trouble accessing MLU lately?

Hi MLU-ers,

Am just checking out to find out if any of you have been having any trouble accessing MLU sometime lately? I think Jon has mentioned that he has had a similar problem ... how about the rest of you?

What happens for me is that I get a can't access page when I try to get in, or sometimes when I get in, and gp to following a link that page will happen and I'll be locked out again ... this has been happening with a few MLU access links I try, not just the regular one we all use ...

Feedback please ... you having similar problems at all lately?

Thanks folks,

Thanks a lot guys, I figured it wasn't my end, but not sure, as my computer behaves as strangely as I do sometimes

I know there was a big problem with the server being attacked and downing things for hours recently and have been wondering if these are little hiccups and glitches are from that that the servers have yet to fix back ....... what do you think Geoff?

I too have been having problems with slowness especially when sending replies to PM's or posts. It seems to take forever but tonight is the first time I have not been able to log on except by using the back door route.

Jeff are you playing with it again? If so please leave it alone!

I've had slow times off and on but that's it... but I'll look into this.

What you guys have to do is make sure you record error numbers where possible - look on the blue band at the top of the screen for instance, and note local times as well. The error message which appears on the IE window is crap.

Thanks,

Geoff

MLU Constipation in following links/pages/PM's etc changes has also been a frequent drag problem for me lately too. Driving me nuts sometimes

The error message that I get IE is all I got Haven't had the other messages like the mslq or whatever the hell it is .. just my browser pages

I expect we aren't all using IE browsers but we're all having problems and get different messages/pages maybe, but they're coming from the same root problem that connects us all back to MLU access..

I don't have a clue how this net connecting stuff works.

K.

Ouch. Harsh ... I was off for the good part of a day ... overnight ...

SOMETIMES deleteing all my cookies and stuff HAS helped me get back in, but then I lose access again and have to delete cookies again, etc ... some weird interaction going on. Strange.

Yep, same error message, same access denial.

I phoned Geoff and he said all was well!

Am obviously on MLU now, but this is the first time in a couple of days.

I figure it has to be Geoff's server for MLU since I can access all my other links.

I've been having the same problem for several days now. I get a Netscape can't find the server message. It just happened again when I clicked on the new posts button. I tried a couple more times and it went through.

Default MLU

Everything works but it's verrrryyyyyy sloooooowwwwww. This is often because the server is under some sort of external attack.

NO, NO, NO! you have it all wrong! It is the rest of the world which is Abnormal and we....being the Normal folk we are, are in fact the only normal people

Now that was quite understandable wasn't it Ma?

Did anyone notice it was bloody near impossible to bring up a Forum window from about 0800-0830 EST this morning? Thereafter, both the Forum and my email has been hot/cold in that at one moment, it will refresh almost instantly and the next, about 2 minutes after the link has been clicked. It will be interesting to try this post, even.

I'm trying to chart all this to put together a solid case one way or another; I have found that sometimes ALL sites on the server are slow, yet other times it's just the Forum itself - and sometimes it's lightning-fast. This is a tricky one - I am tempted to say we're under a denial-of-service attack, but at this stage I really don't know; what I DO know is that my daily desktop spam load increased tenfold since last weekend suddenly. Interesting...

Opened the notification that you posted in here, about half hour or so ago. and couldn't gain access to the forum ... and got the IE can't access pages again ... refreshing didn';t work (sometimes does) ... tried other links, didn't work, tried the one you gave me as just digits which took me to main site and I followed the links to the forum link, clicked on it and here I be ... though that has frequently failed for me too ... so ... WTF who knows whats happening.

Like I said, I know zip about net connecting etc ... but MLU forum (and often I can't even access the main site either!!! nor the classfive) and browsers seem to be interacting and screwing up access. Is it possible for a site/forum to have a malicious virus or some such? Someone messing with MLU? I really am just tossing out wild ideas here ... Just wondering ........

Page changing, posting, PM's, etc has been extremely slow ... very glitchy ... off and on all nite ... as it has been off and on lately in general ... on the whole, this stuff seems to be happening "unpredictable" ... works great/works lousy etc ...

?

And it's SO weird that sometimes the clearing of all my cookies works, sometimes not ... but am wondering if when they DO work if that just happens to be coincidental and nothing to do with cookies ... or there is a cookie monster messing with MLU and getting at peoples cookies?

Hmmmmm ... interesting ... Geoff, I googled denial of service attack to read up about what that is ... sounds like what I was saying about possible someone messing with MLU ... here's the wiki blurb about denial of service attacks for anyone interested ...
