The Cold War Collection is not a part of this event this year. That is all I know, but we had a fun time before

Glad everything went off well. The Cold War Collection was present for two previous race weekends, but received its invitation too late to be accommodated. (Shades of a nearby air show's inability to forward communicate ....)

A question. Has the CAF changed to bear paw snow shoes and retired the Trail type ??

The bear paws were in transition circa 2015-7. My unit requested a top up quantity and we received brand new in the box magnesium bear paws. The trail style snowshoes were good, but for whatever reason, somebody didn't like them enough. But ... the troops tell me they break near the footbed because the average user isn't wearing three layers of Spandex and carrying a slim daypack. Nope, they're wearing three layers of the best technology the CAF can issue for Arctic use but it's heavy, and they're packing dozens of kilos. Overloading cannot be avoided. Fill in the blanks.

In my own experience, the old skoole snow shoes are better for beating through bush and making a trail. The bear paw snowshoes are better for flotation in deep snow. When I was up in the arctic, I used snow shoes that we could add on additional flotation tails when carrying more weight in deep snow.

The kit for climbing was a lot more sophisticated than what I used in the 70's.
Stuart, did you happen to take a pic of them ? (and the bindings) did the CAF get a new mukluk also ? Looks like a good turn out and event for the MV community to get behind and hats off to all the participants either runners or displaying kit and vehicles.
