David Hayward's Nov. British Vintage Roadscene article...
I just picked up a copy of Britains leading road transport history magazine, and found Part 1 of a history by David Hayward of the Second Canadian Mechanization Depot. Great stuff David. Take a look at your local magazine rack. Cheers Rob

Issues
http://www.ianallanmagazines.com/home.php?cat=11
You need Part 1 which is in issue 120 and then 122 for the second part (out shortly). Part 1 of GM Limited in Bamber Bridge, Preston is in January issue 123, and there will be say three parts finishing with the Cleckheaton works. You giys will then have the complete story: issue 110 had the Southampton CMD. I may then conclude with post-war rebuilds at Southampton to use up my material, but that will not be for a few months. |

Part 2 Bamber Bridge
I am just writing about the second part (concluding) of my GM Ltd in Bamber Bridge story. There is a lady whom I have spoken-to on on the phone, Mrs Anne Whittle who is now of Hamilton, Ontario, worked at Cuerden Mill from 1942-46.

Vintage roadscene magazine
The latest issue of VRS, number 123 just out, has a photo of a demobbed CMP plus the first part of my short series on General Motors at Bamber Bridge, near Preston, 1941, with CMPs and a lovely YR Chevy 6x4.
Enjoy! |
