Tyson; Here is one I noticed for sale on kijiji a few days ago. Unfortunately no inserts, and not in Alberta.

"Hay Box" is a new term for these that I have not heard before, is that the common Canadian name?

In Australian use, these are known as Hot Boxes, and I understand the US calls them "Mermite Cans", or M-1944 Cans. Under that name, they frequently appear (or the inner contents) on US Ebay, although of course you'd then be up for the postage costs you're trying to avoid.

I do have a couple, but I'm probably too far to be of much help!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haybox

A hay box, straw box, fireless cooker, insulation cooker, wonder oven or retained-heat cooker is a cooker that utilizes the heat of the food being cooked to complete the cooking process. Food items to be cooked are heated to boiling point, and then insulated. Over a period of time, the food items cook by the heat captured in the insulated container. Generally, it takes three times the normal cooking time to cook food in a hay box
