M151A2 Restore
Hello Al
Well after many years the restoration of my 1974 CDN M151A2 has started. Jason and his Dad are the main restorers with me getting in the way once in a while. It is now almost stripped and ready for sandblasting. While stripping, found a 1976 penny under the radio wiring guard (on the back floor) Will glue it in as part of ts history when complete. The main areas of rust are the front floors, battery box and the front cross member. Thanks Eric

Eric,
I think you should call the vehicle 1 Cent because of it.

But what if it is of the feminine gender?
Hi Eric
Always good to see another restoration begin. Now to Robin's idea for naming it, you could always go with Penny. Cheers Phil

Wife name my first CMP 40 Years ago
Hi Eric
Every MV needs a name, my wife took one look a picture of what was to be my 1st CMP 40 years ago and said "what a BEAST" still have the HUP and the wife. Both of them are part of me. You might also say that I had the Beauty already my wife. BEAST is what the HUP got for a vanity license plate Talking MVs if you have BEAST you must have BEAUTY in this case a C60S Pat 13 CMP, andit got the plate BEAUTY. When the 3rd truck joined the family a Pat 12 C60L I polled the family for for a name at first we were thinking "and the" or "& the" as a plate but it would only may sense if the two other trucks were parked oneeither side of it. So they family decided on CANADA in honor of it's history. But back to the M151 hope you will keep us posted on Jason and his dad progress. Cheers Phil

M151 restoration
Hello
Well it seems that the vehicle had a front fender AMU mount, which would give it three radios. Similar to the one for the M38A1. By chance has anybody seen one of these rear items? We have found the base plate, which is different than that on the M38A1. Thanks Eric

updates
Hello
Based on some feedback from another site. It looks like this vehicle was used in the air ground air role with 1Cdn Brigade Group HQ and Sigs Squadron. The radio mount on the front fender would have been for the PRC 515 or PRC66 radio used for air communications. It has gone back for sandblasting as the underside had not been done and surface rust was forming in other areas. The main areas requiring attention are the front floors and cross-member as well as the battery floor. Thanks Eric

If you are not already familiar with his work there is a person by the name of Guy Loomis who works at a manufacturing and fabricating company. Through the use of CNC plasma cutters he has made forming dies from stacks of flat stock. He now sells repair parts for these. http://www.m151bodypanels.com He actually has more then those listed in production now. Contact him via G838.org or Facebook.

M151A2 restoration
The grill was removed to straighten out the passenger fender.
Does anybody have any idea of what the two holes are on each side of the vehicle? Thanks Eric

welding started
Well Jason's Dad has started the welding.
Jason discovered some stenciled writing on one of the tires. WT-3120 Not sure what it is. But this and another tire were grooved, so could be a test of some sort.

My M151a2 Came home finally and is on the road.
Thanks to Don Dingwall, Roy and Jason Ginn for helping me get it to this stage. It still needs a few things to finish it off but now I can enjoy it. Thanks Eric

Glad you are getting the opportunity to enjoy it before the snow flies Eric. Looking forward to more info/photos etc on your radio setup when you get time... I know you put a lot of effort into that part of the project.

Very nice looking rig! I wonder since the tires were grooved, the 'WT' meant "Winter Tire" following your thought of a trial?

Winter tires
Thanks all.
Never thought much more of the tires as I have been preoccupied by other things. Yes WT could mean winter tire. Still sorting out and trying to find some radio gear, such as the PRC-515. Just as a comparison shot, I used Home Hardware Olive green spray paint to paint the engine area. It is very close to the dark green in the camouflage pattern. Original gloss olive paint is on the underside of the hood and was also used as an overall coat. It is now under the flat paint. Thanks Eric

Hmm photo did not seem to attach so here it is again. I guess it was too large.
Darrell Thanks. I miss not having the B line and Peter Laroque dumps to look through. Had many trips up with Jim Fraser. You were also very helpful. Many MV owners benefitted from your generosity. Thanks Eric
