Default WTB: Variometer feeder assembly & mounting screws

I just noticed the variometer I've got has the "shipping" cover over where the antenna hooks up on the back. I'm needing the feeder assembly as shown on the label that came with the variometer.

Also, does anyone know what size screws are needed to mount the variometer (the ones that go in on the side)?

Thanks!
Chuck

Hello Chuck.

The three screws you will need to mount the Variometer are BSF, Steel, Countersunk, Slotted 1/4-26 x 7/8 inch. You might have to purchase slightly longer and trim them. They CANNOT exceed 7/8 inch in use. If they extend too far into the variometer case, you risk serious damage to the coil assembly inside the variometer when it rotates.

There is a company in the burbs of Boston sells them, by the way.

Many thanks David!

I found them in 3/4" & 1" lengths at British Tools & Fasteners in NY. http://britishfasteners.com/index.php/

So the Feeder Assembly I need is the No. 9, if anyone has an extra one they keep tripping over.

Thanks!

The feeder assembly comes in several parts:

Plates, Adapter, No.2 - this fits on the back of the variometer and has a knurled nut for clamping the aerial feeder.

The aerial feeder - 39" of insulated wire with a ring terminal at each end.

and

Plates, Connector, No.1 - a circular metal plate with 6 holes to match the aerial base No.8 (or 10) and a central feed-through insulator that takes the aerial feeder from below and a pigtail lead above (which connects to the aerial base.

You can probably find both plates fairly easily, but may have to make your own 39" connecting lead to go between them.

(The "Plates, Adapter, No.2" was standard with the "Truck & Ground Station" kit, and the "Plates, Connector, No.1" was widely used, not just with the WS19 - there are various different styles of this plate.)

Chris.
