Default CMP Reflective Jewels....

Gentlemen: I have gone through some of the queries from this forum, as to those little reflective green "jewels" that mounted in the front bumpers of the early CMP's. Can anyone out there tell me if RED ones of the same size were used any where on the vehicles? I have had a small discussion with Brian Asbury regarding this matter.
Thank you in advance for your input.....Robert

We have some green ones on hand here at the museum, and the design records mention them as well. Never seen red in that position, not a similar jewel on any CMP. The trailer T sign has much smaller red reflectors....we have one of those here as well.

Red was never a standard for the front of a vehicle...amber was. Green seems to have stuck around into the 50s. My 56 C500 DND firetruck has green lamps on the hood for clearance.

Default The Master of Information.......

Thanks Rob...as always! I just bought 4 of the green ones, that's the glass only. I'll make up the brackets for them. The question on the Red ones was just that they had exactly the same size, but in Red. Just wasn't sure whether they were on any of the vehicles....front or rear. If you can send me a photo of the trailer "T" sign, I can see if there are any there to match them. I know I brought up the T sign a couple of years ago, on this forum, with the idea of reproducing them.
I know there were some questions put forth about these reflectors by a number of members "Down Under" regarding the various colours.

Thanks again Rob......Robert

Attached is a photo. The reflectors are flat faced and about 3/4 diameter.
