Default Engine mounts

Hi all,

Well the time has come for me to get the engine back down in the finished hull of the Alligator.

However can anyone supply me with a new set of front engine rubber mounts and the special bolts to suit. After hours of searching every box and parts bin. I will be dammed if I can find the ones which came off 2 years ago.

Any help gratefully received.

Many thanks

Bryan

Hi there!

Well by the look from the diagram they look like the type used on the Ford side valve V8 in the CMP's which by chance are the same as Series 1 1948~53 Landrover engine mounts and Series 1 1948~58 & 2A~2B Landrover Forward control gearbox mounts.

Phil,

After reading you message i Got under the rear of the 2B Forward control to have a look. They dont quite match up with the ones I need but I will cheak out the series one engine mounts. I may have to take a trip to Dunsfold Land Rover trust to have a look.

Thanks

Bryan

Hi Bryan!

Well I used this type on my Ser 2B forward control with out any troubles and a mate has also used them on a Ford CMP F60s that he is currently restoring.
Let us know what you find...

All the best!
Phil...

Default Looks the same as `49 Lincoln

They look like the same engine mount as `49 Lincoln 237 cu in flathead V8 which would make them the same as F8 Ford trucks of the late 40s and early 50s.

Default Engine/cab mounts

Would a Land rover mount suit the engine and cab mounts on Wayne Hendo's FGT project? is their a part number he can use in Aust?

Mac's Auto has them listed as part no 78-6038-S for US$14.00ea. Ford CMPs use 2 of these as Engine Mounts, and 3 as Cab mounts.

If your metal hardware is reusable, Mike's Sidevalve Supply in Adelaide make the just rubber bit as a Urethane casting for AU$15 a pair.

Once I add this flathead efi kit:

Source:

"This Delco kit comes with a choice of 4 "startup" computer chips; 100HP plenum, 200HP plenum, supercharged 200HP plenum and 100HP Hilborn. Each computer chip has a modified fuel curve to suit a flathead with the timing advancing 1o per 100rpm with a total of 25o under load and a rev limit set to 5,500 rpm although each application should be dialed in on a dyno to achieve the correct fuel curve to suit your engine."

Can't wait to get it on the dyno!

Default eith

Just what we need on a carrier as we stuff up the change from 1st to 2nd gear.
Theres is/was a company in Aust. that makes radiator hoses (McKay,I think) they used to make those mounts. Its very similar to the Jeep transfer case mount. There are two variations. One will take a heavier load than the other, the jeep one being the lesser of the two.

Default Mount

Just to add some more. The rubber part (D) of the jeep mount is hollow in the base.

Default Land Rover mounts

We used the Series 1 mounts on the engine and cab of my F60S. The cost was over $120 for both. Tony's US$28 + postage is cheap. Should I ever restore another Blitz I think it will be at 1/2 the cost of the last one. This forum is a mine of information.
