Another Guy Ant Quad photo found... Singapore 1940.
Hi to all. Found the following on one of the LIFE photo threads on-line.
Now, what is the gun in the foreground? I thought an 18lbr at first, but the shield and the trail appears wrong! Cheers, Pete M. |

Quad Ant
Is it not a 4.5 inch Howitzer? Same vintage as 18 pounder but howitzer as opposed to gun.

4.5 How
I agree with Chris: 4.5 inch howitzer with pneumatic tyres/wheels.
The position of the elevation wheel (the prominent wheel on the left side of the carriage) and traversing wheel just visible behind it, together with the curved shield, all point to 4.5 inch How. The top flap of the shield is in the folded forward position and is out of sight with only the four hinges visible along the top edge of the lower/main shield. Nice image. Lots of interesting detail in the background. Mike |

Interesting tyre pattern on the gun. Exactly the same as the Bridgestones on Toyota Landcruiser utes.

Guy Ant left at Dunkirk.
