Default Still learning: Chev aircleaners

I’ve had these aircleaners for a long time but couldn’t break the part numbers: GMC 1529192, AC 111437. Finally a Neutral Number cross-over book gave several equivalent numbers including GMC 1542332, 1526795 etc. So this aircleaner is appropriate for most CMP’s which have the non-dust proof W1-518S carb with a carb flange 2-1/4” diameter. Later 15CWT’s, and maybe others, used the dust-proof W1-598S carb which attached the aircleaner with a square 4-bolt flange. My story and I’m sticking to it until someone comments otherwise. .... Default Air cleaners.....

Hi Brian

All the cab 11 and 12 we have worked on had your type of air cleaners and I have never seen an air cleaner on a cab `13 with the square mounting held by a four bolts flanges..... however the 4 bolt flange is very common on the Dodge WC series.

By coincidence the original 216 air cleaner like yours allowed it to fit on later engine swap that used the common Rochester B carburator....

Cheers

The four bolt flange air cleaner mounting was not only common on the later Dodge WC series it was also the standardised installation used on the CCKW and Studebaker US-6. There was a retro fit kit produced to adapt CCKWs with early production carburettor to take the four bolt flange and matching air cleaner. These used a large support bracket secured by a couple of the cylinder head bolts.
