Default Interesting

Love the AWM shot of the arresting MPs with their victim who looks like he's resisting arrest.

Ian has taken his to Corowa recently.

Wow that was quick.

Thanks for the link to the photos Mike.

I have been unsure if the front sheet is correct because the Parts Catalogue says that the Model Prefix OIC should be the Car Chassis, Lorry Front End, instead of the Standard front end. The rear guards in the photo appear to be the same as the one I'm selling.

A utility (ute) is what we call it downunder. After all, we invented them!

Phil,

The vehicle Steve has for sale, is a real oddity . Ford here normally built the typical Aussie utility cars , with a cab and rear body built as one unit - the Army here were issued many of these UTES , basically a civvy vehicle .

But for some reason they also assembled a batch of these separate cab / body US style pickups . But the rear body tub is totally different to a US pickup, it is wider I believe .

Default Aussie Ford Production List

Mike Kelly, I wonder if you could clarify a couple of things. You mention the Aussie Ford production list detailing quantities of Canadian-sourced vehicles.
Were these vehicles imported assembled or unassembled? I understand the commercial chassis to be the 1/2 ton 112" wheelbase chassis with either cowl only or cowl and windshield. I am right? What was the "Passenger Chassis" composed of? Finally, what is a B.P.C. chassis? Thanks, Joe.

Default Hi

hi joe

This only guesswork on my part . But I believe the stuff from Canada was imported in a disassembled state .. in CKD form or similar . The Ford plant at Geelong was a large factory established in the 1920's . The main thrust of their manufacturing ability was in body work , cabs and body shells and pickup tubs . Don't know if they made any fenders or hoods or grilles ,I don't think they did, I think those parts were Nth American sourced. They made the roadster cab seen on the Marmons and the 1 ton utes .

They have a museum at Geelong , the Ford discovey centre I think its called , it is staffed by people who will answer any queries . One of our own MV collectors worked there , he now works at the National auto Museum In South Aust. Matthew Lombard , a kiwi who is into WW2 Humbers .He is a auto historian by proffession.

Dont know what BPC chassis means

Mike
