F60S first outing

After more than 2 years and more money than I care to own up to, I put my restored F60S into the Military Jeep Club of Queenslands annual show. I shared a float with Phil Lloyd and his Stuart Tank. He had the biggest grin when taking it around the arena. The highlight of the show I'm sure. Here's a few shots from the day

Congatulations Grant your truck looks great,there used to be a large store in Sydney that had a motto that said the quality is always remembered even if the price is forgotten, well done its money well spent, I had the pleasure of seeing your truck on Sunday and no picture could do it justice

Thanks Howard and Ron. I agree, now that it is finished the money is not an issue. Mind you, I had a wife when I started.
You should have made yourself known Ron. I would have liked to meet you in the flesh. I've just picked out a carrier as my next project and I would like to hear how you are getting on with yours.
There should be a show for forum members. Perhaps we could get one organised in Australia.

Great job Grant, Looks like you had a great first outing, from the pictures C60 was in with other well restored MVs. As you hauled, it to the event how far was the Queensland show from your home?

the Jeep Club moved it to a new venue this year and it was only about 30kms from where the truck was being restored in Jimboomba south of Brisbane. I think Jimboomba is aboriginal for "place of many military vehicles." There seems to be quite a number of collectors in the area.

Grant, it's a bloody good idea whose time has come! There are 134 of you between Oz and NZ I've been able to count so far (my Admin search tools are limited), but I'm guessing the actual number is a lot closer to 200. That's a good start!

There's a fair herd of us here in North America as well, but of course we're spread pretty evenly across a huge combined land mass, which makes it difficult - read expensive - to pull all together (as in Oz I suppose).

And why don't we make this event a "MLU Muster"?? Ganmain is fairly central to Sydney, Melbourne & Adelaide. (Sorry Canetoads!)

I think we shoud hold the event is sunny Queensland as the southerners have the Corowa event.

It seems there is interest in a "MLU Muster". What about somewhere like Bathurst or Orange? On the back way from Melbourne and Brisbane and not too far from Sydney. 2008 or 2009 would allow sufficient time to arrange. Any takers?

Grant I was very impressed with your truck. It was pleasing to see another Ford at the event especially one as finely restored as yours. There seems to be an oversupply of Chevs :dh:

On the Orange or Bathurst idea I think it is a good location. Quite central to everyone. I know the cost would be prohibitive but it would really be neat to see some of the CMP's from overseas at the event. Anyone interested to bring their vehicle over.??

May I on behalf of the Oxford CMP Group congratulate you on an excellent restoration of your F60 S. Knowing just how much effort goes into any rebuild, you should be very proud of the end result. I particularly like your paint scheme, which must have taken sometime to apply. It's ashame your on the other side of the world, I would love to see and hear her for real.

It took over two years and the man responsible for most of the work is Wayne Kotz from "Blitz & Bits". Wayne restores CMPs, Carriers and Jeeps for a living. He makes the tarps, windows as well as the painting and body work. He is the one who deserves the credit as I'm his offsider. His knowledge of both Chev & Fords is incredible and as you can see, his work is very good. The Chev of Nigel Wards shown in this thead is also one of Waynes.

Sorry to take so long to reply Bob, but this is the carrier I will be restoring. I believe you have the details from Wayne Kotz. It is an LP2 made in Vic. Rails Newport workshops in 1941. No. 636

Picture of the cast plate from the Vic Rail Newport Workshops. Part No. 70/1 LP2(A) carrier. 1941. It is broken and I will try to get a new casting made. The carrier seems tro have been made suitable for a sea landing with all plates sealed by tar or bitumen.
