Default New Resource - British and Canadian Vehicles Names Lists

http://www.mmpbooks.biz/mmp/books.php?book_id=171

Follow the link below to the tables. There are three - WW2, Pre-WW2, and Post-WW2. The WW2 table includes other Commonwealth etc nations working under the British marking systems, so Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czeckoslovakia, India, New Zealand, and Poland etc during the war are included.

There is also a link to an EM address that should be used to enter YOUR comments and suggested amendments, additions etc. I would encourage everyone to play their part in the project, and for which you will receive credit. We will update fairly frequently, probably about twice a year. I will be the main author of the WW2 table, Dick Taylor will look after the other two.

Hope this is of some interest.

Cheers
Kevin

Kevin,

Sorry for the late reply, but you are to be commended on the humongous task of compiling this list!

Errors, erm ... you do not have a listing for M4A4 Sherman no T-21253x ... ?!?

No seriously, I searched through your listing of names and WD numbers and could only find M4A4's in the T-2122... , T-2123... , T-2124... , T-2126... , T-2127.. ranges, but none in the T-2125... range .

Thanks!
Hanno

Hi Hanno,

I had been collecting vehicle names from years after someone by the name of Hoss Lister replied to a modelling question I posted on a site.
All I have done is just compiled them and as you can see from the source column I have had names and numbers sent to me from literally all over the world, many of the contributors names are probably familiar to you.
Dick Taylor persuaded me to send him all the names and numbers I had, approx 2500 and he added his Pre and Post war lists and now we have a base to start from. There are errors but hopefully these will be ironed out with updates.

As to your T2125** numbers I looked on my census listing and so far I have only seen a small hand full carrying this number sequencing, and so far none with names. These are the ones I have seen so far:-
T212501 8th Princess Louise (NB) Hussars
T212538 an OP from 15th Field Reg, 6th SA Armoured Div
T212592 Firefly Governor General's Horse Guards
T212594 a Flail A Sqn 22nd Dragoons turret no. 47
T212597 2nd Sqn 2Trp Canadian Genadier Guards turret no. B22

I hope this is of interest and anything you or other members can add will be most welcome.

Default Tank Names

Hi Perry,

Thanks for the additions and corrections. This is a project that Dick Taylor and myself have been working on for some years. It is obviously a massive project and any additions are most welcome. Dick Taylor is mostly covering pre and post war names although we are both working on WWII names.

Cheers

Kevin
