Ganmain Show 2010
Howdy all,
Well its not a military event or show yet but depending on your attendance it might be........hopefully. The Ganmain Show is on this year on the 21st of August. Been going now for over 100 years and is one of the few surviving country shows in the area. Mainly due to a very dedicated and hardworking committee. Attractions include Sideshow alley, Dog show & working dog trials, Sheaftossing, Miss Showgirl, Local produce Display in the Pavilion, Clydesdale Horses (The Huge horses with the fluffy feet) great food stalls, Farmyard Nursery and of course FIREWORKS!!!! (Good ones too, not the crap ones we used to buy in a bag when we were kids) Howard & Myself will be holding up the Blitz banner with our trucks but we hope some of you others out there might put it on your calender and we could make it a mid year thing (between Corowa's). There's plenty of room at the Showground or at my joint and we can throw together a feast like the one we had at the Caravan Park. EVERYONE IS MORE THAN WELCOME!!!

It will be fun
Well done to the Yass Lads for the enthusiastic reply's.
The Ganmain Show is a really good day and very fun evening. But the enjoyment will amplified by a huge margin if the Military Vehicle Mob turn up.

Got my plates yesterday!
Coonabarabran to Ganmain 556 km so 345 miles at 10 mile / gallon is 34.5 gallon plus return is 69 gal. 314 litres....both tanks full and a 44gal drum in the back. Is every trip away like this with these conversions?????? Sounds like a good run for me.......but.......is there a bar so I can prop myself up on something? |

Bar - What Sheep do
Certainly will be a bar at the show and there is a good Pub in Ganmain. Not to mention the Sporties and Bowling Clubs. Plenty of places for you to lean on Mick.
Lets hope Bruce has his trucks down here by then H, and is happy to bring em.

Getting closer
Just a quick update - I had a quick yarn to the show President Dave Cox. They will organise some room for our trucks so we are all together.
Camping overnight (or for a few nights) is more than OK. Ive got plenty of room as well. Might even have a Bon Fire. Euan, in light of the fact you couldnt make Corowa, here is the opportunity to redeem yourself.

Alice Springs or Ganmain? Ask Howard......there's no contest really. Apart from the fact you'll get to see magnificent specimens like this.

I might try and make it to the show; it'd be good to put some faces to names and see some other Blitzes, and Ganmain isn't too far from home for me. Just have to get the leave sorted out!

Be great to finally meet you. Hopefully your Chev might be able to get you here. All the Hillston crew more than welcome. Seriously all - there is accomodation in Town if you dont want to stay at the Showground or at my place. Which also has a spare half acre block for HEAP's of trucks. There are good meals at the Sportsman's club. But we'll have a barbie to remember Friday and Satruday night if your keen. Max, getting your spare parts fitted will be no excuse for not showing up. Just think of it as part of your rehab.

Uncle Holgate - Wants you!
Only two weeks till the Ganmain Show!
Hope you guys have checked the trucks oil, water and tyres and given the sleeping bags in the back a bit of a dust off!! Look forward to seeing all the fellahs that have posted on this thread and maybe a few more! If youre turning up on the Saturday it wont be hard to find us, we will be where the big green (& rust red) trucks are...... For those who think they might come down the night before. Address is 56 Hill St. Please dont go looking for a 'hill' in Ganmain..... just steady inclines. It will be a fun day with heaps to see and do!!

Attendance
Hi all - dare I say it but the highlight of the show will be the attendance of Salesman Bob, Ada and D-For. No military vehicle however.

Bob be sure to let us know your itinerary... There's more to see than just the show! But knowing your tendency to mount border raids, I am not sure if you will get to see some of the real treasures...

Unfortunately the Pearce's won't make it, too much family stuff has come up.
The rest of you have a great time.

No Border Raid
Hi Howard - we'll be on the road Friday lunchtime and see how far we get. Probably camp overnight somewhere and make it to the show on Saturday. Overnight in Ganmain then off to Cooma on Sunday. It'll just be a flying visit.
Bob

Raid
Ahhh so it's a planning trip as a precursor to a full-scale raid. (Pssst Howard... keep all the new CMPs in the area under wraps...)

On tomorrow
Well, its finally here....... the Ganmain Show is on tomorrow. For those who may be arriving in their trucks, if you cant find the showground in a town of 500 people then I would suggest you probably wont make it out of your own driveway!!
When you get there, just look for a green Cab 12 F60L, a rust coloured Cab 12 F15 and a Yellow C60L with a Crane on the back. Things'll get going around Tennish..... allow for a lunch of Dagwood dogs with out of date tomatoe sauce, hot chips and Fairy Floss for dessert. Salmonella should kick in around 3 in the arvo. But they've recently fixed up the toilets so dont panic. Looking forward to catching up with you and hopefully celebrating a change in Government to the spectacle of the Fireworks in the evening

Well, You know that things are crook when I am the healthiest member of our household. Jo is down with flaringitus (or something that sounds like that), Errol has a head ache & runny nose, and Sid has had a couple of days in Hospital with suspected appendix problems. It looks like the Holgates will be a no-show... That's a first.
The mighty F15 is on site, however...

I would advise all not to venture to the Ganmain show as it'll make you sick if you suffer from asthma and hayfever. I've had one of the worst cases of both for sometime from the hay stack with it blowing all over you. I did however gain a bargain from the juck store with the purchase of an old light fitting for $15, when you look in ths shops it's well over $150 (it is genuine as well).
