RAF Blue
From watching war movies you get the impression that all RAF vehicles based in the in UK in WW2 were painted RAF blue, when in fact wartime photos of RAF vehicles show camouflaged vehicles from the early war period onwards.
So when did the RAF stop using RAF blue in the UK - during the Munich Crisis 1938 perhaps? And when did it start using RAF blue again? I'm also interested in the camo colours used by the RAF in the UK during WW2, which look to be similar to the British Army at each stage of the war. Does anyone have any info or links on this subject?

Hello Larry,
Most sources seem to agree that RAF blue was used pre-war. During the war the RAF painted its vehicles in the same colours as the army, depending on the theatre of operations. These two links might give you a bit more information: http://www.mafva.org.uk/PDF/BritishCamouflage1.pdf http://www.network54.com/Forum/47208/thread/1139819680/ Hope this helps Fyll |

Thanks Fyll.
BTW - I thought RAF blue was used on RAF vehicles prior to Munich Crisis / WW2
