Default Ford Artillery tractor No.3 - No.3A Aust info wanted

Hello All,

First I will introduce myself.
My name is Leon Hassing.
I am a model maker from Holland.
I am a long time fan of this site and am amazed every time by the knowledge here

There is now a model of the German Ford V3000 truck by ICM.

I would like to convert it to a Australian Artillery tractor No.3A

So now my question is, could any one help me with pictures of the chassis with the winch or the tire pump for the No.3 tractor.
I hope you can help me

All the best

Leon

Default 3a or 3

Leon,

I have just completed a restoration of a Ford/Marmon Herrington 3A gun tractor. I have not finished adding the winch yet but I do have one to install. I also have a No.3 which still has the tyre pump fitted. This truck is unrestored and very rough but I can get you photos of the tyre pump and fittings. Does the Ford truck model you have got come as a four wheel drive version like the gun tractors or are you going to add something to it to make it four wheel drive.

Jack

Hello Jack,

Thanks for your quick response.

The model is rear wheel drive.
I will have to build the complete drive train to.
I do have some info on this, but any pics of this would be very much appreciated.
My preference would be the 3A with the winch.

Could we see some pics of your restored truck?

Thanks in advance

All the best

Leon

Hi Leon,

I too make scale models and looked at scratch building one of these. I do have some info such as measurements of the body etc. somewhere and will look for them if you are interested. Beware of the front axle it is a different configuration to the usual CMP Ford front axle as it has the 'diff head' on the opposite side to the normal Ford front driven axle.

Jack, Thanks for your help, and i'l have a look at shows and events.

Cliff, I have seen your models here on this site and am impressed by your eye for detail.
I have a model in 1:76 from 4 mil models in Metal.
I was going to take measurements from it for the Body, But if you have actual measurements than I am sure interested.
Thanks for your help.

I will include some pics from some models I have build.

First is a cmp from TONDA discussed in the other post in the sergeants' mess.
It is a very nice model in resin and some Photo etch.

Hope you like them

All the best

Leon
