Default 216 valve springs

HELLO ALL
Some years back now we took one of our chevs to beltring and i had rebuilt the cylinder head while there a collet came out and we had to get towed home i turned out that i had put avalve spring in upside down at the time didnt know there was a top and bottom but i am not the only one it seems as today i was removing springs from two cylinder heads and over half of them were in upside down any one else made this mistake.
