Cause of sinking.
The most recent DUKW sinking in Liverpool was caused by a discarded car tyre that was caught up in the propellor. This resulted in the 'V' strut being torn from the hull.
Despite this being a freakish event many are calling for the vehicles to be banned from commercial passenger operation. According to the latest reports the operating company has gone into administration. David

Amphibious Truck....
We had an amphibious vehicle that pandered to the tourist trade in Ottawa about 10 years ago. The vehicle had been modified in the Ottawa area and I believe went by the name of Lady Duck. As it happens, it also sank on entering the water with the loss of at least four lives. It dropped out of sight and I next saw it at an auction yard. I have no idea where it is now.
