Default Air Raid Siren

How about using it as an international time signal so that all MLU members and G. Win Spinnington Ball can synchronise our computer clocks.

Default AD SIREN

Well, the warning siren at the Swords and Ploughshares Museum has quite a few uses, mainly:

Annoying neighbours (within 30 miles);
Scaring off rabbits;
Proving which gunner is deafer;
Drowning out Mike; and
Attracting By-Law Officers (never know what they want - can't hear them...).

You could use this concept as a Heat exchanger on your muffler as used in the CMP Arctic version..
Good as long as the engine was running..But to keep a little heat on while you were parked would be a little expensive,with todays fuel prices..

Yes i have thought about that concept but also thought about the fuel so went for gas the trouble im having at the moment is bending the aluminium round it keeps springing back
even though i bent it round a formerand held it for a fortnight out in the sun and still it tries to spring back needed putting through some rollers i expect i wonder if rolf has looked inside his . he has the real thing and it must be the only one i reckon.

Vic
When you have your aluminum shaped,warm it up with an oxy-acetylene flame,heavy on the acyetlene so that it is a large smokey flame..go all over the metal quickly and let cool...Then the aluminum will keep the shape and remove the original "memory"..
Use this method for any aluminum sheet shaping ,weather it is body panels for aircraft or autos..
Let me know how it turns out..
It works immediately as it cools so you will know right away..
Try it on a small piece first until you are comfortable with the process..

Default AIR RAID!

Hi Vic,

One can have hours of fun and meet all sorts of folk by toying with such a powerful device. Being a cold war brat, I remember living on northern Canadian air bases/stations and going thru the checklist for the great Russian air attack. I suppose we were too young to ask why we were going thru the drills, and at that time, one didn't ask teacher questions, one answered the questions.

I suppose it is nice that most folk have no idea of what the siren's purpose was and the paranoia it produced in the western adult population in the early to mid '60s. As a child, I was blissfully unaware of the Red Threat, and didn't understand why anyone would want to flatten places like CFS Holberg. For all I knew, the "damned Commies" could have been a softball team that played at the base...

Anyway, it is nice to see our Cold War relic (the siren, not Mike)silently (mostly) guarding the entrance to the museum.

Yeah, great idea...I just had a huge face to face argument with Sunray about what the time was, GMT wise.

He insisted that it was -5 in our area (DST). I, in turn, insisted that it was -4 (Q), vice -5 (R).

I finally got on the phone to Frank Misztal, being a recently retired Sigs guy, who confirmed that I was correct.

Sunray, being the pouty person he is, felt miffed and soon after departed.

Simply announce, at the proper time, with a "J. Arthur Rank" bonging sound...

"It is now the correct time".

...then run for cover!

Preferably outside Mr. Notton's bedroom window, about 0300 LOCAL (if you need directions, I can provide).

Then send me the siren collect; I'll do the same at Mr. Skagfeld's place, then return said siren accordingly. Honour will be satisfied.

G.

PS: I'm not worried about the time... mostly I know what time it is HERE... it's these strange sigs people who get confused...

Yeah, right... "I'm OK - it's the rest of the world that's nuts." :

Listen up, Surnray... It's your forum, so you can set whatever time you want. This will only prove to the world that you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Default Times...DST, EST GMT...etc

Hey Frank...Beauty response.I knew godamn well that I was right.

You confirmed it.

I really can't understand why Sunray, with me showing him the Signal Officer's Field Handbook, still insisted that GMT was now -5.:

Stay tuned for further developements as Sunray, on 31 Oct, goes through the agonizing ritual of changing his dumb, stupid clocks to whatever time he thinks it is.

"Hello, All Stations...Time check, over"...after suitable check-ins...

"All Stations...at the sound of the gong, it will be the correct time...Wait, out"

"All stations...(sound of bayonet rhythmically beating against mess tin, implying a bell tower sound)...It is now the correct time...Out."

The above was not a joke...it really happened...too bad Sunray wasn't awake to gain appropriate knowledge.

Default Hey kids, what's the time? It's MLU time!

Jif knows that the correct time is not really required as somewhere in the world, at any time, a MLU inhabitant will be reading the forum at any local time, morning, afternoon, night. Clocks are meaningless.

We used to have Jif, its a very good cream cleaner, but just lately the containers have had an explanatory note about Jif changing to Cif "The new European name for Jif".

http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/household-pr...anser/1000241/

So, don't go saying Jif anymore, its Syph in Euroland now according to the giant, Unilever.

I do believe you'll find peanut butter is not very efficatious at cleaning the worktops, bath or bog, whilst a decent spread of Cif on toast will doubtless give you a gippy tummy or the trots approaching Montezuma's revenge.

Default Derogatory Remarks About Prontos'

As an ex. Pronto Minor, voice and cable only, no --- ..., I think that all Prontos, Pronto Minors, Clerks etc. should hook up their field generators next time Winball Ray Spinning is logged on and send an almighty ZAP down the line.

By the way my clock is Sparrow Fart in the mornings and when I'm tired at night.

Out - Bob
