Default LP2A Carrier Storage Box

Hello

I have for sale a 'Heat Unit' storage box. This box holds the portable cooker. The box sits on the RHS track arch as shown in attached photo.

Box is in good undamaged condition. Some surface rust but otherwise OK.

$250 AUD. Postage extra. Located in Perth, WA.

Stuart, who’s carrier is the photo from? There is a plate protecting the side of the battery - a great logical idea but original? or someone’s solution to a problem. Either way I like it - how was it attached?

Also, I’ve restored a few of these boxes and found the felt has caused cancerous rust - looks like normal surface rust, but when cleaned up has gone right the way through, creating a fair bit of work.

Hello Phillip

The photo was found on the net. Don't know who owns it.

The felt was removed from the box early on so the rust is only skin deep. It will clean up very nicely.

Default Carrier

Hi chaps,

That’s my Australian carrier in the photo. The battery box/surround was put in by a previous owner. I also think it was a great idea and I might have some of the early photos relating to it if that interests you.

Hi Darryl,

At the risk of hijacking Stuart’s thread:

Occasionally you see something that you say to yourself - why didn’t they do that originally/ why didn’t I think of that! ?

I have found that this is area is very cluttered and this would be “one more bit of tin to catch dirt/ get in the way” but it stops the inadvertent foot kicking the battery, so Yes, I’d be very interested to see how it was attached, if you would not mind posting for others to see or PM me if you prefer.

For the uninitiated, rust in these boxes = Caveat Emptor - (just pointing it out as I’ve been caught before.)
