Garry;

Check out the Overlord 2004 thread and the thread about murdered POWs in the Eqpt & History, you'll see why Dave thinks GWB is going to go 'Postal' upon his return......

Garry...some of the stuff GWB was pouring down his throat at Horndean, the bottles probably would explode, surprised they let him out of the country without being checked by Bomb Disposal first.......

Nah, he gets reduced rate air travel for breathing into the engines.

Only today and tomorrow left now for sanity, Ball-Spinning and harmonic due back tomorrow night.

Must double check the quantity and acceptability of the fridge stock and the security of The Great Key, wouldn't want that let out like a Headless Horseman of the Apocalypse.

Default Tut-tut

Nasty bunch of buggers, you lot! I can't say anything mean about the esteemed Mr. R (minor technicality, I'm sleeping in his house and need a ride to the airport tomorrow ) , but I'll get my own back soon...

BTW, it's been an amazing three weeks. First the King's Stone drive-past (an unbelieveable honour), and a reacquaintance with many I haven't seen for three years, then R's show at Hordean, which was in many respects the best MV show I've ever attended, despite changeable weather (that famous soggy English sun). Normandy after that, which brought a chance to meet Hanno again, and of course, to do our duty to Rfn Smith. Hanno has the pics of that, which will be published in due course.

I'm tired but happy with all this, and shortly now to return to Canada to reintroduce m'self to the Empress, my stepdaughters and my cats. One part of me doesn't want to leave this green and scepter'd isle, but it's time (besides, then I can say nasty things about R in return for the bollocking he's been giving me)...

Cheers, all. Duty is done. More details later.

Back on home turf now, totally knackered but trying to tough out the jet lag. Off to bed shortly methinks and off tomorrow for catching up and readjusting.

Now you know what Master Sunray meant by
having to do some re-adjustments.

Master Sunray? Can I watch you re-adjust Our Mark-O?

Geoff, good to hear you made it back home safely. Must be hard to readjust to the every day grind after more than three weeks away - I was gone for only a week and find it somewhat awkward after last week's impressions.

Well ... perhaps sweet? That's about it when you don't have any Bristols

HANNO ... nice to see you back in here. I can well imagine how, what? Surreal? it must be to go from Normandy Ceremonies and such, and back into a life so ... different.

I'll bet you had some incredible experiences And powerful too.

Hi Miss Yappy! Although as mere mortals we did not attend any of the ceremonies, I've seen enough to keep me going for a while.

Visiting your Uncle Eddie's grave was moving for sure. Geoff did a great job, apart from making sure your obituary will remain on his grave for a long time, respects were duly paid on behalf of your family - and of Canada, for that matter.
I hope to get the pictures in by Wednesday this week. I will post scans on the forum, but if you e-mail me your postal address I will make sure to send you all the prints.

Excellent. I was waiting for a mention of this part of the trip from somebody. Thanks for telling me Hanno. I wish my Grandparents could know that Geoff and You did this for their son. They never had the opportunity and this was the next best thing ... you guys did something good, yes, for Canada, but on a personal level ... well. It's a good thing and I kind of feel at peace around my Uncle and his parents and siblings now. You people also did that for me, and I won't forget that.

Regards mailing photos...I don't know what my address will be but will know for sure by the end of the month. I'll let you know asap. I certainly won't be in this neighborhood. Too tragic, and far too scarey. Not used to this at all.

Carman

Carman, it was our honour to pay respects on behalf of the family. To me, knowing some of his personal history, it made his grave stand out between all the others. You and your family can feel at peace, as Uncle Eddie is among friends and fellow combattants, and rests in sacred ground remembered by his family.

I agree - but just let me know what size you want any of the pictures, and I'll run as many high quality prints off the original negatives as you wish.

Erm, because someone had to take the pictures
Maybe Sunray Minor has a picture with me in it?

I'm working on a Normandy 2004 page with lots of pictures, so stay tuned!

Default And another...

Nigel Hay, me, Hanno, beside a monument to the British 11th Armoured Division, which fought through this area (Vire). Nigel Hay now lives close by, on a delightful little farm; he's not a member of our forum, but we've known him for years, and he's a splendid fellow. He used to own an M-16 halftrack and a Stuart M3A3 light tank, but spends his time running Milweb now.

I know it's been pointed out before, but there isn't a single picture of Mr GWB where he isn't leaning on something to stop him falling over. (Hanno's got an arm around you to stop you keeling over on one shot, and your arm is hidden behind your back-with a bottle maybe?)
It's not a problem, I'm just worried that if too many Canuck's come over here there'll be no booze left for us)
It look's like it was a pretty good few week's-do you remember much of it, or did sunray minor fill you in when you got home
