Default Canada Day Convoy- S&P Museum

G'Day all:

The Swords and Ploughshares Museum is conducting its annual Canada Day Convoy from Kars to Merrickville to Kemptville.

Departing from the museum gates (see map at www.calnan.com/swords) the convoy will meander down the north shore of the Rideau River/Canal to Merrickville, participate in the Merrickville parade and ceremonies, lunch at the Merrickville Legion then meander along the south shore of the Rideau to Kemptville. After Kemptville's parade we will participate in the ceremonies at the Legion and attend their BBQ. From there it is a 10 minute drive back to the museum (15 if driving the LAAT!) where we will have another BBQ and fireworks.

Key timings: Sunday, 1 July 2007

1000 Arr Merrickville
1100 Parade through Merrickville

Safety instructions will be issued to all drivers on forming up at S&P in the morning. Please respect the packet system.

If you have FRS radio please bring them. A signals operating instruction (SOI) will be issued as part of the safety instructions.

I have been able to secure some additional funding courtesy of the Warden of the Marches (Mayor of Merrickville) and will be able to offer a fuel allowance to non-museum vehicles. Details TBC.

Interested MLUers may send me a PM or email to my work: calnan.mt@forces.gc.ca

If we can get 4-5 CMPs, in good nick, I will use this opportunity to photograph them for use on the cover of an upcoming book. So there you are, if you own a CMP get it out to Merrickville on 1 July.

Damn, timing is everything! I'm in Merrickville right now, but leaving on the 13th or 14th and I won't be able to make it back so quickly. Try not to run over any locals and take lots of pics!

Default CCDC Photos

Will do, Jiff!

Rob C will have to teach me how to post the damn things as my luddite computer skills still lack that particular talent!

While you're in Merrickville why don't you let me run down and pick you up, bring you to Kars to see the rust piles and run you back... its only 20 minutes each way.

BTW our local cadet corps will be having their annual review on Sunday 10 Jun at 1400 hrs... you would be most welcome.

Mike

Thanks for the thought, Mike, but tomorrow is the last possible day, and that won't work because of the workload I have before clearing out of here. We'll make the effort perhaps later on in the summer.

Default Last kick at the Cat!

Hi All:

A last reminder of the Canada Day Convoy. Looking forward to a fun day in Merrickville and Kemptville with some free grub and fireworks at the S&P that evening.

I'm on leave trying to get the fleet all up and running so I won't be able to check this means for a few days.

Hoping to see lots of RATs lined up on Sunday morning!

Mike
