Default Weather

Lance,

I am planning on attending this event - but I would like to know what sort of weather you are ordering for this year - so I know what to wear.

Thanks,

Stewart

Default What to wear

Stewart,
Wear your summer weight Kahki Drills, and pack a greatcoat, or insulated coveralls.
If you have swim fins bring them as well.

Default Open House

Hey All, the date for the open house draws nearer. Last years event was a great success, and to remind you, all are welcome.
This is an absolutley free event (unless you come up to the messes for a pint) and there will be a large number of dispays and so forth.
We plan on having a timeline of Canadian military firearms and equipment dating back to the mid 1800's.
The Regimental Museum and HLI of C Normandy Platoon will be out in full force.
We are looking at a number of military vehicles, both modern and vintage being on site. it should be a good day for all as long as the weather holds.

Here are some pictures from last years event .

Default OCT 29 OPEN HOUSE...

Just a gentle reminder that the open house at the Camb Armoury is still a "go".

The building will be open all day , from 0900 untill we have the closing parade at 1630.

I hope anyone in the mood for a drive that day will choose to stop be - it is free, and I can maybe get you and invitation into the SGT"s mess.

I won't invite the Prince of darkness though, He just doesn't show up - right geoff?

Default Prince of Darkness?

Who's that in our motley crew? I'm the Prince of Light, Truth and Goodness Everywhere, so if I have a rival who's gone over to The Dark Side, I need to know. He needs to be teleported to the outer rings of the Planet Orc.

WE SHALL PREVAIL!!!!

I think the term you could not find was 'stout', or 'manly'.

Mind you that steering wheel has swelled up a little with the autumn rains, so I will probably take the T-16 this year...

Default Many Thanks...

.. to all who made the third Military Heritage Day a success.

Stewart Loy , Capt Moore, and Munro Fraser parked their veh on the front lawn under the bofors gun, 56 Fd (RCA) flanked them with a howitzer and a mortar det.

Inside and on the Pde square there were displays which covered the pre-rev war era to modern day Afghanistan. Fierarms, memoribilia, and a chance to talk to people with a genuine interest in Canada's military history.

Exceptional effort by Norm Drouillard (PerthR MAMH) and his massive display - He's gonna need a bigger truck soon, Soldiers of the Kaiser, American Civil War Re-enactment Society (Both Teams) 1812, the list goes on...

Lots of parking, free lunch, a cool, a dry day and this year about 560 locals through the door. Hopefully some of these groups did a bit of recruiting..

The Yorkers and Butlers Rangers were unable to make it, and I take responsibility for not giving Norden enough warning. Rob Dabkowski and The Prince of Darkness just didn't show up...

A few groups want to pre-register for next year, so I can safely assume that it was a worth-while event for them. There is lots of room for more displays and I would like to see more drill and firing demos from the black powder groups. I am willing to provide letters for the TPT of automatic firearms.

This is also a great forum for the troops in this Regiment. They had a chance to see how diverse and interesting Canada's military heritage can be, and are now aware of many different ways to experience it - maybe they'll be joining one of these groups...

Again - many thanks.

Default Thank you to the RHFC

As a representative of one of the War of 1812 groups that attended, I would like to thank Mr. Fitton and the RHFC for hosting such an outstanding day.

It was an honour to represent our time period in such a great forum!

It is our intent to attend in greater numbers next year, incorporating the day into our winter drill schedule adding a lot more colour and noise!

Charlie, once confirmed, please forward the date so that we can lock it into our planning calendar.

Your most humble and obedient servant,

Tom Fournier, L. Cpl.
